Explain this to me ...

One of life's greatest mysteries has always been how children can feel SO TERRIBLE from the hours of 8-3 ... and 3pm hits and they miraculously feel better ... and I don't mean a little better, but better enough to want to go squirrel hunting in the woods ... in the cold ... with no gloves! And dad thinks it's fine.

This would not be such a mystery to me if my child were in public school/private school ... anywhere that school only happens from approximately 8am-3pm. But he's aware that with the declaration of feeling well enough to squirrel hunt comes today's lessons ... even at 3:45pm! So ... what is the deal ...

Boredom.

Marissa has pulled this too. I never tell her she's lying. I just tell her if she is too ill to be productive, she will have to... do boring things. She thinks it sounds good for a little while, but (eventually) she comes around.

Now, I have one for you. How come during the week when we are going to be home doing school I have to use a crowbar to get Marissa out of bed. On the days we have homeschool ice skating or a field trip ~ she sets her clock and is ready to leave long before it is even time. :o(

A similar mystery involves SNOW... why is it that I can barely DRAG the children from there beds at 7AM, but if there is snow they are magically WIDE awake and wanting to go outside at 6AM?
