Lessons from the trail this weekend ...

are just too much to share right now.

I had my first wreck.

I cried for only the 2nd time in my life because I was hurt ... and scared. I hated it ... crying and being scared.

I learned some things about myself that I don't like very much and I'm adjusting. But I learned something about my son that I like very much. He has a comical and nurturing soul. As we were sitting by the fire later that same evening, he asked, "Mom, did you pray that God wouldn't let you die?"

I had to admit that I didn't have time to pray or say a word by the time my head was careening off the side of the mountain and I had to trust that the verse where God hears the groanings of our hearts took care of anything that was going through my mind.

To which he replied, "Everyone heard the groanings of your heart mom, I feel certain that God heard them too!"

ahem ...

Oh, I am so, so glad you are ok! And you cried for the 2nd time in your life??? Really? Wow. I have a feeling that something happened long ago to make you not cry, and that makes me want to cry.

You have only cried two times in your life???? I cry more than that in one day sometimes -- in fact I can cry just thinking about something. And you know what a thinker I am!
It terrifies me to think of you careening off a mountain -- for real? or did it just seem mountainous?
You didn't say how badly you were hurt but I am assuming nothing was broken...
