I was stumped for Father's Day this year. Nothing seemed "right". I thought it was going to be a total failure... until the day of Father's Day! Of course the children and I had cards made (but no gift) and greeted him in the morning. Then he went off to work. The idea came so swiftly that morning. I packed up the children and headed off to our local Walmart to buy balloons and a helium tank. We sat in the back corner of the Walmart parking lot for a LONG time filling balloons. We filled the trunk and what part of the backseat that wasn't filled with children with balloons and drove off to daddy's work. The guard let us through the gate... daddy was nowhere to be seen so we sprung into action. All six of us were trying to fill his car with balloons... opening car doors, throwing them through the sunroof, painting "Happy Father's Day" on the windshield, attaching them to the outside. The whole time a group of men taking a break outside the building just stood there and watched and never said a word. We drove away that day with a sense of satisfaction about what turned out to be the most memoriable and cheapest Father's Day ever! Here is a picture of his car FULL of balloons!

I love the balloon idea! How funny and exciting! I will have to keep that in mind for my kids to do for their father next year.
