Huckabee Rally
Mike Huckabee came to Birmingham yesterday for a rally. The room they booked for the event had a capacity of about 300 people and around 2400 showed up! My whole family went early and was in the first 300 in the room. The rest of the people were taken to a much bigger room where they could hear the speeches.
Former presidential candidate Duncan Hunter introduced Alabama Governor Bob Riley, who introduced Mike Huckabee. Alabama State Senator Hank Erwin was also there. He is a committed Christian and has spoken to our church.
Huckabee gave a great speech that took about 30 minutes. He addressed all the issues that are most important to me and I love his ideas to fix the problems like immigration in this country.
We all had a great time and we're ready to go win Alabama for Huckabee! |

A Range - Finally!
About 8 weeks ago, our oven blew out. We haven't had a stove or oven since then... until now. We have been cooking in the microwave, kerosene cookstove, crockpot, griddle, rice cooker, roaster, and anything else we could find. Some families in our church loaned us some of those things. Anyway, the stove was under the extended warrenty from Lowes and they were going to get parts to try to fix it. Well, the parts were on back-order, and it turns out there weren't any in the country. So after they tried everything else, they finally approved a buyout of the range, which means they gave us a Lowes gift card for the amount we paid and we bought a new stove. Praise the Lord! We can bake again! |

Basketball game
Dad, Jeff, Eric, Stephen, Mary and I went to the Auburn vs. WVU basketball game. We had a great time! We went with two Auburn fans and that made it interesting. WVU won easily, so we got to see a lot of the backups play. Go Mountaineers!
As you may have noticed, I am now supporting Mike Huckabee for President. I think it is very important that we elect a Godly man in 2008. I think Huckabee is the right man for the job.

I'm posting again
Hi everybody!
I know I haven't posted much recently. Thanks for the comments anyway!
My older siblings are almost done with school for the semester, so they will be home more than a few hours a day. =D
Some of my siblings and I are going to see WVU's basketball team play Auburn. They are playing in Birmingham Wednesday. That will be fun!
My youngest sister is 7 months old! She is really getting big. She likes to put anything she can grab in her mouth, so we have to be careful what we leave near her.
I'll try to post more frequently.

The Gator Bowl
The Gator Bowl was great! Dad, Jeffrey, Eric, Stephen, and I, left for Jacksonville, Florida, Sunday afternoon. The trip down was great! We stopped for the night at a hotel about an hour away from Jacksonville. The next morning we got on the road about 8:00 eastern time, and arrived at the stadium about three hours before the game. We hung around the car until the stadium opened at 11:00. We got in quickly and walked up to the top of the stadium to our seats. For the next two hours, we watched the stadium fill up, players from both teams warm up, and used our binoculars to watch our announcers in the press box. By the time the game started, the WVU side (where we were sitting) was full, but the Georgia Tech side had a lot of empty seats, especially in the upper deck where there were very few people (and most of them were WVU fans).
The game started out really well, with a three and out by our (WVU's) defense and a very quick touchdown by our offense. It got worse fast, as Georgia Tech threw all over the field as if our defense wasn't there, and scored the next three touchdowns. We finally put together a good drive and kicked a fieldgoal, but Georgia Tech then scored another touchdown, putting us down by 18 points: 28-10. It was important for us to score again before halftime, and we did, pulling to within 11: 28-17. Georgia Tech had to kick off to start the second half, but they did an onside kick, recovered the ball, and ended up scoring a touchdown on that drive, pushing their lead back to 18: 35-17. From there it was all West Virginia, as the WVU defense shut Georgia Tech out the rest of the way and quarterback Patrick White took over the game, leading WVU to three straight touchdowns to take a 38-35 lead in the third quarter. There was no scoring the rest of the game as West Virginia ran out the clock and won the game.
We drove all the way home after the game, and got there at 1:00 am, central time. The whole trip was a lot of fun! Of course, the best part was that the Mountaineers won! |

Homeschool Conference
Last Friday and Saturday we went to the Alabama homeschool conference (CHEF of Alabama). The theme was "America's Christian History." One of the keynote speakers was Gary DeMar and they had Judge Roy Moore as a special guest speaker. I went to three of DeMar's sessions. They were: "America's Christian History: Fact or Fiction," "Myths, Lies, and Half Truths," and "America Today: What Went Wrong and What to Do About It." |

Grandparents' House
We went to our Grandparents' house in Mississippi for a few days last week during my older brother's spring break. We spent a lot of time cleaning up debris left by Hurricane Katrina. I think we got a lot done. We also got to use the row-boat on their pond. That was pretty fun. |

Update
Hi! Sorry I haven't posted for a long time.
I have been doing a lot of Bible memorization. I just finished James and I am working on 1 Thessalonians. I hope to have it done in a few weeks.
What do you think of my new template? If your computer doesn't do the fade effect on the main picture, then it might not look as good.
Well, I guess that's all for now. I'll try not to wait as long before the next time. |

Happy New Year!
New Year's Wishes
What shall I wish thee?
Treasures of earth?
Songs in the springtime.
Pleasures and mirth?
Flowers on thy pathway,
Skies ever clear?
Would this insure thee
A Happy New Year?
v
What shall I wish thee?
What can be found
Bringing thee sunshine
All the year 'round?
Where is the treasure,
Lasting and dear,
That shall ensure thee
A Happy New Year?
v
Faith that increaseth,
Walking in light;
Hope that aboundeth,
Happy and bright;
Love that is perfect,
Casting out fear;
These shall ensure thee
A Happy New Year.
v
Peace in the Saviour,
Rest at His feet,
Smile of His countenance
Radiant and sweet,
Joy in His presence!
Christ ever near!
This will ensure thee
A Happy New Year!
God Is Faithful
(1 Cor. 10:13)
God will never fail us.
He will not forsake:
His eternal covenant
He will never break.
Resting on His promise,
What have we to fear?
God is all-sufficient
For the coming year.

Poem
Here is a poem I read today in American Literature.
Value of the Bible
O Lady fair, these silks of mine are beautiful and rare-
The richest web of the Indian loom, which beauty's queen might wear;
And my pearls are pure as thy own fair neck, with whose radiant light they vie;
I have brought them with me a weary way - will my gentle lady buy?
And my lady smiled on the worn old man, through the dark and clustering curls
Which veiled her brow as she bent to view his silks and glittering pearls;
And she placed their price in the old man's hand, and lightly turned away;
But she paused at the wanderer's earnest call - My gentle lady, stay!
O lady fair, I have yet a gem which a purer lustre flings
Than the diamond flash of the jewelled crown on the lofty brow of kings-
A wonderful pearl of exceeding price, whose virtue shall not decay,
Whose light shall be as a spell to thee, and a blessing on thy way.
The lady glanced at the mirroring steel where her form of grace was seen,
Where her eyes shone clear and her dark locks waved, their clasping pearls between;
Bring forth the pearl of exceeding worth, thou traveller gray and old,
And name the price of thy precious gem, and my page shall count thy gold.
The cloud went off from the pilgrim's brow, as a small and meagre book,
Unchased with gold or gem of cost, from his folding robe he took.
Here, lady fair, is the pearl of price, may it prove as such to thee!
Nay, keep thy gold; I ask it not, for the Word of God is free.
The hoary traveller went his way, but the gift he left behind
Hath had its pure and perfect work on that high-born maiden's mind,
And she hath turned from the pride of sin to the loveliness of truth,
And given her human heart to God in its beautiful hour of youth.
John Greenleaf Whittier |
