Sick Bay
I've been in the sick ward with my four youngest boys for the past week or so. I haven't been sick but they won't let me out of their site. It's like having many husbands instead of one! One who was pretty much over it had another fever last night. Unfortunately that messes up his ability to go to Legoland with his oldest brother today! Our oldest son and his fiance are taking the boys to Legoland because their free tickets expire tomorrow. Nothing like waiting until the last minute!
Unfortunately because of their sicknesses life came to a screeching halt! We had to cancel a seven year old birthday party. That was sad. We did reschedule it for April 8. Three of the boys were supposed to be baptised and we had to reschedule for April 9. I was supposed to proctor for our ISP's SAT testing day. I sent the two high schoolers on ahead to take their test but now have to take our fifth grader this next week. Our ISP requires annual testing for 4th grade and above if they read well. Joe looks forward to it and can't wait. (Crazy isn't he?)
Father/Daughter Retreat
My husband and daughter left in the wee hours of the morning today to go to Vision Forum's Father/Daughter Retreat in Georgia. They'll stay with some friends tonight and then go tomorrow to Callaway Gardens where the retreat is going to be held. I had Sarah take her book, So Much More by the Botkin sisters, so they could sign it for her.
Steve had to take his best suit and Sarah her best dress (We had to go buy one of those!) for "High Tea" on Saturday. Special times.................Sarah is fourteen and she's the loveliest girl~we've been very blessed.
Mexico
When Sarah gets back to San Diego on Monday Steve is taking her down to Mexico to join our youth group. They're building a home for a family and furnishing it with furniture. She's so excited! She loves going down there and helping. Sometimes she goes down and helps Yugo Ministries give baths to the young girls. In this one town there isn't any running water so a water truck is brought in every few weeks and when it comes the children get baths. They line up and are checked for lice, get feet and limbs washed, hair shampooed, and then girls like Sarah comb and fix their hair at the end. Of course if they wanted her to help in another area of the bath routine she would. Jesse goes sometimes and helps with the little boys.
When we went to Briana's funeral a few months ago one of the things that were mentioned was her love of going down to Mexico with the youth group for ministry.
Thyoid anniversary
A year ago this last Saturday was the anniversary for the removal of my thyroid because of thyroid cancer. We're still adjusting my medicine as I need it to function. Otherwise I'd be very, very tired. Folding laundry made me tired when I had to go off it back in July. I could plan on one activity a day and then I'd have to lay down the rest of the day. Before my radioactive treatment I had to go off the medicine for three weeks I think it was. Then it takes six weeks after to get back to speed. It's a process but a necessary one.
Ebay
We contacted ICR (Institute for Creation Research) about carrying their products and they're sending us a catalog. They're just down the freeway from us and their products are wonderful!
I've been purchasing some of the items for our family's library. I finished reading Holy Sex by Michael Pearl. It's not a how-to book but explains the Song-of-Solomon verse-by-verse and explains how holy sex is between a married couple. It's not something shameful or to be endured. It gives you insight into how your life should and could be!
I picked up Verses of Virtue by Beall Phillips and was reading that last night. It's a book of poetry on the home, wifehood, motherhood, godly women, etc. If you love poetry this book is for you! Doug also has one for men but I haven't read it yet.
