Blessed Woman

Saturday

We got to the tournament and found out Jesse was going to play for the U19 boys which in reality are men. Some of these guys can be 19 by this time in the season. Scary! He did well and held his own. The first game he played midfielder and the second game he played goalie, giving up two goals. He was out of position on one of the goals and the other he couldn't stop it from going in, it was a clean shot.

It was very windy which made it cold even when the temp was about 70.

We went to Cracker Barrel again!! Yeah!! I had fried shrimp and hushpuppies. I tried Turnip Greens and decided I DO NOT LIKE THEM!!! Yuck! James ordered fried chicken which turned out to be a filet with lots of gravy on it and the mashed potatoes. The gravy was white and he was grossed out. We tried to wipe off what we could but he just didn't like it. I ended up driving through In & Out for him.

We went back to the hotel and the boys went swimming while I read by the pool. I started reading The Sinking of the Titanic. The first two chapters were a little dry as it gave all the statistics of the boat and various other things. Once it got into who the passengers were and their story of heroism/chivalry it's been non-stop reading for me! I didn't relaize the most opulent men of the day were on the Titanic. Mr. Guggenheim, John Astor, Francis Millet are a few that come to mind. They all perished so that women and children could live. They helped the weaker ones onto the life boats and stood back in their place on the deck. Unbelievable.

I also learned that the feminists of the day detested the idea that men would give their lives for women. Their thinking was that women were just as strong as men and didn't need men to "save them." They weren't the weaker sex. Ugh.  No wonder we are where we are today. Feminists. Some men don't open doors for women anymore, they don't let women go first out of a door, they don't think anything of cussing in front of women and children. Come to think of it many ladies have sailor mouths of their own. I used to and then I came to know Jesus and he took my potty-mouth away. At one time my husband looked at me and said, "Don't you know any other words?" I was using one particular word almost every other word. How horrible I must have sounded. Yuck. Thank you Jesus for your cleansing power in my life.

We went to Jesse's second game and he played again for U19. His third game he played for his team U16. James fell asleep on the grass and woke up shivering and bewildered. I had to take the boys to the car and get them in their seats as Joel was sleeping too. I'm 45 now and carrying sleeping boys is getting harder and harder on this mom. When we were in the snow a few weeks ago and I was sinking in the snow up to my knees with each step I took while carrying Joel who is five, he said to me, "Mom, I'm only 44 lbs and you're 45 so what is the problem?" I replied, "Exactly Joel, I'm 45 THAT is the problem!" giggle

We drove through Taco Bell and came back to the hotel. It left a lot to be desired........It took us no time at all to fall asleep as we were all wiped out.

Jesse says he's not playing in his games today. He says his hips hurt. So I'm not sure what we're doing as he's still sleeping. The three youngest boys just went down to the continental breakfast the hotel offers. That's a scary thought but I need a shower and was not ready to venture down there. I put James in charge. Hopefully they behave.
