Called Jake on Saturday to see if he wanted to come visit us at the beach. He said the neighbors had been trying to get a hold of us. Seems the SWAT team had been on our property Friday afternoon.
We have a psycho neighbor. No two ways about it. He's a kook.
Apparently Friday he took a shot at his elderly father. His mom and sister were able to escape. This guy is in his forty's so he's no spring chicken. He is mentally deranged however. When the police responded with helicopters and an officer at his camper door I guess he refused to come out.
He has been living in a toy hauler/camper right on the other side of our fence. Legally it's against the law. How do I know? He called on us a few years ago when we didn't know it was illegal to live in a camper on your own property. Our seventeen year old son at the time wanted a little more space and privacy from all his brothers and sister so he bought himself a little trailer that he parked on our four acres. Guess this guy called to report us and that little red and green men were running around. (Maybe our littles had colored sweats on?) Out comes the enforcer and sure enough, here in Cali you or anyone else can only ive in a trailer on your property/driveway/street for thirty days in a calendar year. You can use it in the day but you can't cook or sleep in it. Whatever....... It ended up burning down to the metal frame in the wildfire anyways.
Our neighbors were trying to get a hold of us to tell us to stay in the house or to stay down our hill. We live on a dirt road but the main road is a winding two lane heavily traveled and highly dangerous road. Anytime there is an accident the whole road gets shut down so emergency vehicles can get through quickly.
The SWAT team surrounded the guy using the front of our property to take aim. When he figured out he was surrounded he came out peacefully. He thinks he's a CIA agent and that the DEA drops drug packages through the main houses' roof leaving big gaping holes, so this was probably his worst delusion coming true.
I'm so glad I wasn't there! A million questions from the boys and John would have wanted to be out interviewing the SWAT guys. He has to know everything about everything! As our camping buddy said, "It was a God thing that you weren't there." I believe it!
