Blessed Woman

My arms hurt

A few weeks ago at church there was a sign-up sheet for weeding to be done. We have been remodeling the whole place and the pastor wanted the banks around the church weedeated until they're landscaped. Knowing that I have a crew of capable workers I signed us up. It seems as though we couldn't quite get there for one reason or another. I needed my 16yo son Jesse to go with me as I cannot start those weedeaters by myself. Pulling that string and pushing the different buttons just drives me insane so he was needed.

We drive to the church and six of us pile of the van. (One of our workers had gone to his friends and their lake for the day.) We got all the tools out, found brooms and rakes and started working. Not long after that I was informed by my 16 yos that three of the weedeaters didn't work.  And I was free to either get something for the kids to eat or go home.  My 16yos must not know me as well as he thinks. This ole' gal doesn't give up quite so easily. It seemed to me that my husband had all the weedeaters in working condition and filled with gas so we could do this job. Turns out some of the line had gone inside the little container and Jess didn't want to dig it out because that meant walking WAY over to the shed and finding the right tools to dig it out. I won and he won. I weedeated for a while longer until my 5yos thought he was going to die of starvation. Then I put the weedeater down and borrowed money from the teens since I had forgotten my purse at home and drove to the local taco shop.

The guy at the taco shop thought I was a complete loon. I ordered bean & cheese enchiladas. Ummm.....he tells me, "We can make you a bean and cheese enchilada but we do have some with cheese ready to go." HAHAHA I asked him, "Did I just order a bean and cheese enchilada?" "Yes" he says. I told him, "I meant a bean and cheese burrito." AI yi yi. Sometimes my mouth talks faster than my brain can think.

I go back to the work crew and we take a much needed break. I have a feeling we worked on the hottest day of the year so far and right in the middle of the day. It was 84* at 6pm last night so I'm thinking it was in the high 90's if not 100* at noon when we were working.

The bank looks nice but needs a lot of work. We just put a band-aid on it.

I like to serve in ways that my whole family can work together at the same time and be together. I think it's important for them to see mom working as well as their older brothers and sister. So my biceps hurt but that's good. They can use a workout every now and then.
