Friday Night-Birthday Dinner
Jesse's birthday dinner went wonderfully! We had to take two different vehicles. Steve went to the church and picked up eight so they had eleven and I took our minivan with five of us. Numerous people met us there. We had twenty-five in all. All of my children and my son's fiance were there. I love it when we're ALL together! It was a GREAT time and all the teens were so well behaved. Unfortunately the memory card on my new camera was full and we forgot I had another one, right in the camera case, so I got limited pics.
All the teens went to ride the BIG two-story carousel in the middle of the mall. Then they went to the movies. Our oldest son and his fiance went into the movie with them and I went home with our four youngest boys. We watched a hilarious episode of Andy Griffith before they went to bed.
Poor Steve didn't get home until almost midnight. He took most of the kids home. Some of them had parents picking them up or were with siblings but about ten kids needed a ride home. I was waiting with hot buttered popcorn and sodas. We LOVE to eat popcorn at night. It's a horrible habit we've come to love.
All-Star Soccer Saturday
Yesterday found us at two different soccer fields for the day. It was the second half of the All-Start tournament here in the East County of San Diego Area. Joe had two games and his team lost both games. One boy even broke his arm/shoulder area and had to go to the hospital. Sarah's team won their first game but they only had forty-five minutes to recoup before playing the Final Game. It was too soon for them. They needed longer to rest. They fought hard the first game so they were just plum tired. My daughter, thank you very much, scored three goals the first game. I didn't get to see all of her second game because I was at Joe's game about ten miles away but I was told that the other team was just beating us to the ball and they were beating us mentally as well as physically.
So now soccer is over EXCEPT for Sarah's AYSO National Team. Her U14 girls team won the opportunity (out of all the other Southern Cali teams from Irvine into AZ) to represent our area in the AYSO National Games in Chicago! We're so excited! I'm team mom and our whole family is going!!!!
I know Dawn is from Chicago and I'd be so happy if she could see us there. I do get to see my friend Helen from Mother's Companion. She was my mentor and the one who introduced us to the quiverfull lifestyle, homeschooling, Above Rubies, Richard Fugate. She was so instrumental in getting me on track as a mother and wife.
Sunday-Get Reaquainted with the kitchen day
Today I have been getting reaquainted with my kitchen. I think I forgot how to cook. With all the birthdays, holidays, soccer games and practices we have been eating out ALOT. So today I made Pumpkin Spice bread for breakfast, even though it was a mix, I still count it as cooking. I even prepared our lunch before we left for church! I took Cream of Chicken Soup and water, poured it over some chicken breasts and baked it on 275 while we were gone. The house smelled so good when we got home! We had white rice, corn, green beans, peaches and more pumpkin bread.
I got even more domestic took a break from listing on eBay and made Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies.
Hope you enjoy my weekend as much as I did! What did you do?
