Monday-Wednesday

Monday

Today found me taking Jesse to the oral surgeon to have a tooth removed. Everything went smoothly! I brought him home, got him comfortable and then back out to get his medicine. While I was at the pharmacy Steve called and invited me to lunch! What a dilemma!!! Should I be a good wife or a good mom? What mom leaves her teenage son at home without his mom when he's just had oral surgery? On the other hand, he was home with Sarah and in capable hands. So, I was a good wife and went to lunch with my hubby and got home in time to give Jess his next pain pill.

Tuesday

Today found me going to violin with Joseph & John and to the post office to mail packages for our company, The Biblical Family. We mail every day and try to list new items every day. On my way to take Jesse to the local high school basketball game I asked him if he had brought his medicine with him. He told me, as he's behind the wheel of my new Honda Odyssey, that he had just taken his pain killer. I freaked out-"Stop the car! Stop the car! You can't drive! You're on codiene!! (We were only on our dirt road so he looked at me as if I had lost my mind) He reluctantly stopped and got out to let me drive.

Steve brought home Cold Stone ice cream for the two of us. We had an unexpected visitor around 8pm. Our oldest Jared was off work early so he stopped by to talk. We appreciate him and his wanting to be with us. We love it! On the other hand, Steve wanted to have his ice cream so he could go to sleep.

Wednesday

Jesse started back at work today. It was busy and he only worked a few hours. Enough for a first day back to work after surgery. We had a yummy spaghetti dinner with garlic bread.

Our big news for the day-Our shed is done!!! Our old one burned down in the wildfire that hit our area over two years ago. It's different than our old one but at least we can put our lawn tractors, log splitter, mulcher and all the other tools necessary for four acres. I LOVE riding the lawn mower. When I've had enough in the house and can't take it anymore, I go outside and mow for HOURS! I need to find my straw hat here soon as my big mowing season seems to be in the Spring.

Riding our lawn tractor is my very favorite thing about summer. I actually blogged on it last year, too.

Are you sure you are 45??? ;0)

It is wonderful to read about young men. We have 4 boys--age 12 down to age 4 and then 1 princess who will be 18 months soon. Anyway, reading about others' young men makes me stop and think--hey, this won't last forever! Especially when they've been very trying! ha ha

You can email me if you don't want to post. Thanks a bunch.

Jan. 27, 2006 - selling books

Posted by blessed woman
loveinthosebunnies: Book business-First off, I've been selling on ebay for about four years under a different name. I've sold women's clothes, baby clothes, my WHOLE maternity wardrobe, used books, toys, memoribilia. I've gone to Ebay University a few times (actually went out of town and on a plane for one of them), read a vast amount of books, researced the net and other ebayers.

Now, I've always wanted to open a book store. With eight children, homeschooling six of them, there is NO WAY I can do that away from my home. Ebay is a wonderful option. So, since my husband's family has run a successful plumbing business I approached him with the idea. He was game!

First he went to the bank to open an acct but they wouldn't open one unless we had a Fictiousness Name filed with the county. I went and did that, it was painless but did cost $25. I want you to know that I take my children with me when I do these appts. so you can imagine five-seven of us in front of a business lady. <giggle> Once you have a name and it's registered, you have to publish it in a paper. Several papers sent us the info so we chose the cheapest.
Then, we had to apply for a Reseller's permit with the State so that we are legal, thus we have to charge and pay State Taxes.

We also opened up a Business Account at a local bank.

My husband does have a Financial Advisor/Tax Consultant through his work so he makes sure with her on a monthly basis or so what advice she has for us or what we need. (We'll pay our first taxes soon and she told us what records we needed.)

With a Name and a Reseller's Permit you can now contact book suppliers and ask if they will sell wholesale. They all wanted a credit application. You will need money upfront to get the deepest discounts, (we use a credit card and then pay it off when the bill comes), if you use their credit then your discounts are lower.

So, my husband does the ordering, inventory intake, finances and records. We just got a 8-box ordered delivered today so he'll go through that to make sure everything is in order. I do the listing, communications and packaging. My children run the packages into the post office or as in the case today, since my son is now driving, he took a package to work with him and will drop it off when he gets off work.

I'm trying to teach different ones in my family how to do it so we can expand and they learn some job skills in the process. We just got permission to sell at our ISP Parent Meetings so that will be new for us! I've been selling individually to moms that I see but not on a larger scale. We're also finding out the info on selling at our local home school fair in April/May.

I probably told you more than you wanted to know but if you still have a question please ask!
