Things have mellowed out!

Now that Jesse is driving I'm able to stay home more. Hallelujah!!! Monday was very busy with two dental appts for him, a driver's test, haircut and shopping and then out to dinner with Steve and his Fantasy Football buddies. Since then though, I'm relishing in my new homebody status.

Now that I have more time in the house and not behind the wheel I've walked for exercise, two different days! Today we went down our dirt road and three of my youngest sons came with me. They had to feed the horses, talk to the dogs, go down another fork to see if the people started rebuilding from the wildfire two years ago, pet same dogs on the way back, visit a neighbor and on the way back had to go to her house to use the potty. I took my pedometer with me so I know I got a mile in even though it must have taken an hour. My boys love it when I spend time with them, they love me so much that just the littlest things make their day.

I've also been able to cook for two days straight! WOW! Yesterday we had chicken and rice with the soup mix mixed in. Steve decided he likes it better when the chicken bakes in the soup mix but the rice is made separately. Tonight we're having beef stew because my poor hubby had  a dental appt. and is numb. Can't wait to have it with dumplings. Yum!!!

School is on track and our second semester ends tomorrow. Both my 8yo and my 6yo are reading. God is good! My 8 year old was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder many years ago so I'm ALWAYS pleased when we pass a milestone that I KNOW takes so much more for him to accomplish than the average student. He has loved science at Class Day and it's remarkable the facts that he remembers. He is going to be my genius....if I can just get him to stop twirling...his new self-stimulation is to twirl. If he's not twirling himself he has to twirl what he's touching then he can function, kind of like an obsessive compulsive thing.

Tonight is violin for two of the boys.We kind of dread going because it's that end of the week thing and we're tired but they need to go so we go.

I'm going to start listing Lamplighter Publication items tonight so I'll be computer bound, if possible. :)

Big News!

I'm the new California state coordinator for The Old Schoolhouse Magazine. I volunteered for the San Diego area yesterday but they didn't have ANYONE for the whole state so I accepted the challenge/ministry. I told my family they could "touch me" now, you know, being royalty and all. :lol They just laugh and know that mom is funning them.

Well, I think I'm ready for a big hot cup of tea, the fire is blazing beside me and I've just finished an apple.....too bad those Hershey's snack candy bars are gone.........

Y'know.....I believe he used to play with your hair when you nursed him, didn't he? Kind of a twirling thing even way back then.

I honestly don't remember if he played with my hair or not, Dawn. He does now so I wouldn't doubt it. He's been rocking on the couch for years and that has slowed and now this is picking up. By the way...we'll be in Chicago area July 10-17. We're going to Helen's (Mother's Companion) hopefully on the 9th and we'll home church with them that day. Want to join us? They're in Loda-two hours south of Chicago.

Thanks for visiting, Leslie! I'd love to become one of your friends!!! Thank you for the warm California welcome too! I'd love it if you could let me know of special happenings in your area as well. One of my assignments is to come up with ten great field trips. Any suggestions?

I'm having teenager licensed driver envy. I would love for my oldest to have his full license already. We have to wait until June at the earliest, before he can even try, and that's only if he takes a defensive driving course and goes to driving school. Otherwise, he has to wait until September.

I love reading your blog and seeing your family through your eyes and words, Vikki.
