Good Friday

We did get Bible time done yesterday and a whole lot more!  Isn't God good?

Today.......Friday, April 6, 2007........Good Friday.......why is it "good"?

I have been trying to meditate and read about the seven sayings of Jesus while He was on the cross.  It is a new and fresh way for me to focus on this season that could so easily become rote and rutualistic for long-time believers.  Every year, I pray that God refreshes my heart to the wonderful truths I learned on my parents' knees.  Each year, He does just that.

Each year Satan tries harder and harder to distract me, too.  The busyness of the weekend at church (good things!) plus family get- togethers are usually the culprit, but this year he threw some new stuff at me.......conflicts in relationships.  Isn't he "crafty"?  I find that I am no match for the devil and his schemes, but I am so thankful that I belong to THE KING Who created him and knows him well and yet gives me victory already.  Today as I was reading about John Newton and William Cowper, I was reminded in one of their poems/hymns how much Satan hates it when believers fall on their knees before their God.  So today, I do that.  I go to prayer to ask my heavenly Father, my King, my Lord, my Saviour to go to battle for me in this moment, this weekend.  Convict me of sin, forgive me of falling into the temptation and make me clean so that I can worship from a pure heart tonight and Sunday.

I am going to muse on the words of the book, "Seven Sayings of the Saviour on the Cross" by A.W. Pink this afternoon.  May God use it to prepare me for worship and communion at church tonight.  "Open my eyes that I might see glimpses of truth Thou hast for me.  Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit Divine."

.....why is it we are so easily distracted from the things that are good for us? Bible Study and exercise...just hint at anything else I will put those two things aside.
Thanks for stopping by...my daughter posted a comment after yours...too sweet. So I may be "unsettled", but very blessed.
I have a feeling that all will fall into place soon. This was the GREATEST Easter ever...I felt like the whole world was so alive and bright (I even wore a yellow dress with no coat to church...even though it was 32 degrees outside). Good things are coming soon for all of us who believe...I really feel it in my bones.
Keep up the good work...study hard...and stop by again! icart

Apr. 9, 2007 - Good Friday and Satan

Posted by Anonymous

Good Friday...... although we are saddened by all that our Lord and Savior went through on the cross we can rejoice. The goodness of it is that through it we no longer have to spend eternity in Hell. We have the choice, through Christ, to spend eternity in Heaven with Him. IF he had not died on the cross for our sins - that would not be a choice for us to make. Praise God - for He is the one true Living God!

Match for Satan - I know that we go through so many things in life. And sometime the weight of life just gets us down. BUT remember that He who is in you is greater then He who is in this world. You can overcome Satan - not of yourself - but by He who is in you!!!

You are a strong woman! And you are made even stronger in Christ!!
