Jan. 1, 2009 - An Amazing Christmas, So Far!
Wow. With all of the presents that I have recieved this year for Christmas, so far, I feel spoiled rotten! I am excited to tell everyone about them, because they are all so cool.
This first item, is not a Christmas present, but a graduation present, and I just got it yesterday. This may not mean anything to you, but it is a Canon Powershot SX10 IS camera. If you look at my avatar, you will see the camera itself. I am an incredibly indecisive person, so it took me a little while to decide which camera. When we first started looking at them, though, the SX10 really stood out to me, and my Daddy. It just looked nicer, and the features sounded good. So a trip to the electronics store was made, and though they didn't have the camera in stock, they had one to look at, and look at it we did. It was larger than I expected, but the whole thing was rather impressive. Using both the optical and the digital zoom, I was able to look about half way across the store and read large print on the boxes on a shelf. Since they didn't have the camera anyway, I decided to think on it. I know that this isn't really a good shopping practice, but after we looked at the SX10, it was hard to look at anything else. It was almost as if I was just looking at the others just to say that I did!
So far, after having it for only one or two days, I really like it. I am going to have to learn a lot about how to use it, because there are so many features that I know nothing about.
Now, onto my Christmas presents! All four of us children were pretty surprised to find that we had a Wii game system! Since it is still pretty new, we play it almost everyday, but I am almost certain that stricter limits will soon be put into place. At least I hope so! For my sake as well as the the rest! My favorite game that we got is MarioKart. I love racing with my favorite character, Toad.
Tonight, we opened presents with my Grammy. She hadn't yet given my birthday present, and I was very surprised to find that I have a new piano keyboard! It plays, I think, 100 songs, and while it is playing the songs, the keys that are being "played" light up to show you how to play the song. Also, I think it has more keys than my old keyboard, although I haven't checked yet. So that has got me excited about playing the piano again, and I need to find my teaching DVD.
I also got some books. My Antonia, Pilgrim's Progress, and Jane Austen, An Illustrated Treasury. Socks and pencils, candy, a journal/sketchbook, and yarn are some other things that I recieved.
So, like I said, it has been a pretty amazing Christmas. So Far!

Jan. 1, 2009 - A New Year
My first post of 2009. As I type this entry my mind is wondering what the new year will bring. The only thing I know for certain is that God's grace will be even more amazing in 2009 than it was in '08. (Although He certainly did incredible things for me in 2008!)
I wanted to share one of my favorite verses. This verse is one of my favorites for two reasons. One is it shows God has a plan. ("I ordained thee as a prophet to the nations") A plan for my life, your life, every one's life. We are to show the world what a true Christ follower is. We must live for Christ before the world. He also says He formed us in the womb. I have such a beautiful picture of God cradling a little baby and lovingly shaping it into the person He created it to be. It shows God is always working, always cares, is always molding us through everything.
Jeremiah 1:4 & 5 (KJV)
Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Happy New Year!

Dec. 30, 2008 - It's Me Again, Eyebright the Blogger.
Well, now that the joyful celebration of Christmas is over, I have returned to lie under the familiar gas tanks. I am home, safe and sound, or at least one would hope so. I brought back with me pictures, memories, and more pages that have been written on in my diary.
So, now that I am back, I have to find some things to do with myself, that are worthwhile, and some things that will benefit the whole family. I can't just be a couch potato, and watch Mommy and Daddy work, and my siblings do school. I can't just order my sister to peel me some grapes whenever I want, and I can't just use my computer nonstop, for more that two hours if I can possibly help it. Just the the thought of it makes me long for fresh air!
So, if you look down on my sidebar, you will find yet another drop down list, (aren't they cool?) with a list of things that I want to do. Not exactly New Year Resolutions, but just things that, well, I want to do! As I finish them, I will cross them off, but some of them aren't really cross-offable, so they will not be crossed out, I guess.
In other news, we opened just our family gifts last night, and us children were mostly tickled to find that we got a Wii! We also got some nifty games to go with it, that we still have yet to learn how to play. As time goes on, I am sure that more strict regulation of play time will be instilled, but for now, while it is still the holidays, we get to play what I would guess to be more often. My two favorite games right now are Wii Play, and MarioKart.
I will be on here more often now, but not too often! I have a couple ideas for some thinker posts, but whether they get published or not is a good question.
Another thing I would like to share with you is my photoblog. Now, I know that some of you have visited my homeschoolblogger, photoblog, Lumen Naturale, but this one is different, and I would love to hear your feedback!
So, now I will say farewell. I hope you all have a lovely, evening, morning, or afternoon, as the case may be.

Dec. 28, 2008 - Photos.........
Recently, we joined the local library. So began my saga of checking out sewing books. :D I have discovered some wonderful books!
Anyway, I have been on a handbag sewing spree lately. :D I thought I should show my creations. Without further ado, here they are:
This is the Pleated Beauty Handbag from Bend the Rules Sewing and I must say it is my favorite. :D (by Amy Karol):

Simple Tote from Simple Sewing (by Lotta Jansdotter):

Charming Handbag from Bend the Rules Sewing:
This bag gave me some trouble. I think it turned out adorable anyway. :D (Although the photo looks a little bit distorted. However, it's too cold to go back outside and re-shoot it. :D)
