WOW! We got off track!
Well as you can see I have not been on here in a while. We have gotten off track. I have still not found a system that has worked for us. We are currently doing Before Five in a Row and loving it. We have been reading Going on a Bear Hunt the last two weeks and talking about bears. Cooper put cotton balls on a picture of a polar bear, went to the zoo to see bears, got to feel a grizzly bear fur and even went to a ranch and acted out some parts of the story. In addition to the Bear Hunt we have learned directional words like: Over, under, around, through, up, down, over....We are still working on recognizing the letters and numbers. He is slowly getting the letters and numbers but he has to be in the mood for it. If he is not in the mood for "school talk" then he is not going to give you the right answer.
Coops little personality is coming out and it is awesome! He is so loving and sweet. He loves Jesus and "reading" his Bible.
Cooper has his favorite books that he wants to read and read no other. Besides the Bear hunt we have been reading P.D. Eastman's The Best Nest. It is so fun to listen to Cooper "read" to himself or to us. He can sing Mr. Bird's I love my nest song and does the "BONG" sound when the church bell rings in the story. Cooper can sit for quiet a while and be read to when he wants to read.
When not reading he is a typical boy, playing cars, blocks, and bouncing off the walls. Stay tuned. I hope to add more in the days to come.... :-) Please pray for Larry and I have to have a sense of God's will in this adventure, direction in organization, and management of our home.

Week 2 AGAIN!
We got a little side tracked with Grandma here so we picked up where we left off, this is what I love about homeschool! This past week we talked more about the jungle, read the jungle book, watched Zoo Train Signing Time, went to the park and fed the ducks, played with beans, and playdoh. We learned the letter Bb, the number 2, and talked about the color green. Cooper enjoyed gluing beans to the letter B, coloring pictures with mom, and playing with playdoh! On Friday Cooper glued "grass" onto a jungle animal to hide him.
Cooper also got two more birthday gifts this week...it is an extended birthday. :-) He got a big wheel bike from his Granny and Pa and Playdoh tools from Shayna, Kaleb, and Kyle. We also had dinner with our friends Valerie, Mike and Sophia Friday night and Saturday night. Cooper and Sophia play really well together and Valerie and I got to stamp! You can see our cards at: www.stampingwithkimberly.blogspot.com
Here are a few pictures of our week: ENJOY!

Next week is week three! The plan is a theme of Kittens, Letter C, Shape Diamond, number 3!!! Stay tuned to see how it goes!! Life is so unpredictable with a three year old! I will end with a cute picture of Cooper and Sophia enjoying ice cream on Thurday night! How cute are they!!??!?!?

Where have we been?
It has been a while since I posted but we have been busy. Grandma Jean came to visit and play. We had pictures made (link coming soon), we went to the zoo, and had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. We were supposed to do Jungles this week and did a little but we will keep doing them this week as well since we didn't do the letter or number or color much. So, this week we will be working on the letter B, Number 2, and color Green. Cooper turned 3 on Saturday and we celebrated all week. He got tons of new toys from family and friends. Larry and I got him a digital camera and boy is he a professional. It is really interesting too to see what he gets pictures of. I love looking at them and seeing the world from his eyes.
Here is a pic he took of Larry and I at the Rainforest Cafe!
Here is a picture he took of himself! He was laying in the floor taking pictures of himself! How smart is this guy!
Here is his foot and dump truck!
Lastly...one of my favorites, his elephant! He was sitting in the floor Sunday posing his elephant and taking his pictures. He is taking about 200 pictures a day so I can't share them all but here is a taste of what he is seeing.
Finally a family shot from the zoo and the Rainforest Cafe: Enjoy

More to come later! Thanks for looking

I have been meaning to write down a few of Cooper's favorite words and phrases so I won't forget them. I thought I would add them here and share them.
"What's that noise?" or "What's those noises?"
"What's his name"
"Not quite"
"I have an idea"
"I lub you"
"What's he doing?"
I will keep adding as I think of them so check back on this post!

Sea World Saturday!
Saturday we spent the day at Sea World, where Larry's company picnic was held. Cooper loved every minute of the day. He is still talking about the dolphins, whales, penguins, and pool with slides. Here are some pictures of our day at Sea World!
Cool Dolphins!! Cooper was a little startled when they came up out of the water but was soon squealing with delight!!!

The pool was his favorite part!! He was a little skiddish with the slides and such but loved splashing in the water. He also loved putting his face down in the water.

Daddy and Cooper! How cute!!

Where to next mom??

Watching and waiting for Daddy to ride the water coaster!

PENGUINS!!

Back to the pool to go swimming!!!

Shamu!! WOW!!!

YAY!!! Time to "get out of here"

We stayed at the park from 1030am till 530pm. Cooper didn't nap at all so you can imagine he was really really tired when we got home. All day on Sunday Cooper was chatting and talking about Sea World and the animals he got to see and the things he got to do!

Day Two: Squares and Bouncy Place!; Wednesday Update
Today was a busy day for us!! We went to the bouncy place in the morning and Cooper had a blast bouncing and playing and chasing his friends.

I had a stamping class in the evening and Cooper wanted Daddy to do the "worksheets" with him, so Daddy and Cooper worked on squares while Mommy worked. I had a square stamp so he stamped squares on a square.

I apologize for the big pictures...Photobucket is giving me a hard time, hopefully they will shrink! LOL
No pictures for Wednesday! We started Bible Study Fellowship in the mornings, came home ate lunch, napped and back up for church in the evening. All through the day we talked about the number 1, and counted out one of items. Busy day!! At BSF Cooper learned about God's Word and that it is written by God and it is true and real. He also learned that it is "A lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path" Ps. 119. He is loving the Bible and being read from it. He also likes to touch the verse, a concept taught by BSF. He gets really excited when you show him the verse we are reading and let him touch it. I am trying to read my Bible more around him and do my study around him so he can see me reading and working with the Bible. I am excited about the concepts he is learning and wanting to learn. This morning he wanted me to read to him what I was studying so we read Matthew 1-4. He actually sat quietly while I read, not an easy thing for a three year old. He is growing up!! :-) God is at work in his life and ours.

Day 1: COWS
Well today as been successful so far. We got up and had breakfast and some free time. We read a ton of books and talked about cows some, mooed like cows. We then started cleaning and doing laundry. We dusted the living room, Cooper vacuumed the kitchen with the mini vac while I vacuumed the living room. After that I finished vacuuming the kitchen where he missed (he is only 3) LOL. After the cleaning was done we got out our Cow color sheets, picked a color of paint and went to work painting our cows.

Mommy's Cow! Cooper's Cow! Isn't it awesome!!

The excited cow painter!!!
Stayed tuned for pictures of tomorrow's adventures!! We are learning about squares and going to Inflatable Wonderland! YAY!!

Our journey begins!!
I am hoping this can be a place for me to journal about our homeschooling journey. I am starting with Coop tomorrow using the Prep Curriculum from Letter of the week. (Letter of the Week).
Our "schedule" for the week is:
Monday: Intro to "school" and intro to weeks theme: COWS! I have printed off a picture of a cow that I plan to have him paint. We are going to talk about cows this week. Monday is also cleaning day in the house so we will be dusting, vacuuming and mopping. Coop loves to help out, loves to vacuum, a huge help to me.
Tuesday: We will talk about squares!! I hope to introduce him to this shape and hunt for the shapes as we are out and about. We are also going to the bouncy place for a playdate.
Wednesday: We start Bible Study Fellowship and the study of the book of Matthew. We will also be learning to recognize the number 1. If anyone has suggestions on how to go about this I am all ears.
Thursday: We will be decorating the letter A. We will also be on the hunt for the letter A.
Friday: We will be reading and learning the nursery rhyme: Hey Diddle Diddle. He has Humpty Dumpty down thanks to his Granny. I hope I can help him learn more nursery rhymes.
I have to remember as we begin this journey to keep the mommy in me on top and the teacher in me in the background. I tried to start this journey with him last year and the teacher got in the way. I am hoping and praying that this is going to be a successful and fun journey.
Check back later for more on our week! Comments and suggestions are always welcome!
