CyberScryber's Scrybes
• Sep. 20, 2005 - Woolly Bear Caterpillar
We've
been seeing woolly bears for the past couple of weeks, but I've never
seen one this small. I apologize for the picture quality--I
usually leave the digital photography to the girls, but Chelsey is down
with a cold and Amber was busy with her book work. Professor/Meterologist Charles A. Giannetta has a good woolly bear picture on his site: Giannetta Weather.
At any rate, since there is plenty of info on the web about these guys,
we have decided to watch it pupate and "overwinter" (hibernate) then
emerge as a tiger moth in the spring. Since Chelsey has agreed to
be the chief caretaker of this little guy, she got the privilege of
naming him and has decided he will be called "Keyyoutea".
