What Brothers Should Be

• Wednesday, December 6, 2006 - Surfin' USA! (or, The Joys of Vacation-Part Five)

Monday, 4th

We had a lazy morning until we snorkeled at Kapalua. After that, we ate at Mixed Plate where I had a "Loco Moco"(I'm pretty sure that was what it was called...it's 2 hamburger patties with eggs and gravy on a bed of rice...mmmmm)

After that, we walked around Lahaina.

Tuesday, 5th

We had a lazy morning until we surfed(I was this excited>). First, we had to pick up our instructor(I think his name was Dave) at the surfing place. After we went to the beach and got our surfboards, Dave taght us how to surf. Then we had a little lesson in the water. After our two hour surf lesson, we went to Cheeseburger in Paradise for lunch. We finished eating and went to Wailuku to watch the surfers there. After that, we dropped our grandparents off at the airport. We went to Kihei and went snorkeling with my other grandparents, then played tennis.

More to come!

• Monday, December 4, 2006 - Day of driving (or, The Joys of Vacation, Part Four)

Saturday, 2nd

Driving, driving, driving is the thing we did the whole day (almost). I got up and was just able to see the beginning of a flash flood. The flash flood was about 10 feet away at least. After a few good pictures, we had breakfast and headed out to Haleakala volcano. I got a little carsick on the way and slowed down our van (our van is a chevy uplander with a DVD player in it...I got carsick because we watched "Gods and Generals" until Haleakala) When we got on the mountain, I felt bad but we finally got to the top. The trip was a bummer because when we got to the visitor center at the top of Haleakala to see the crater, we couldn't even see through the window because of the fog and cold(it was funny on our way back to the car because Dad's glasses fogged up). On the way down I slept. Once I got up, I ate lunch and felt better. Then, on the road to Hana we hiked in the bamboo forest(when I was almost to the car, I saw wild chickens). Okay, now we are going to play...NAME CASEY'S FAVORITES!

Plants:

A. Rainbow Eucalyptus

B. Banana plant

C. Hibiscus

Animals:

A. Gecko

B. Turtle

C. Parrot fish

Places:

A. Iao Valley

B. Black Rock

C. Bamboo forest

(I'll post answers tomorrow)

Then we went to pick up my other grandparents and left for the condo.

Sunday, 3rd

It was hard to get into a worshipful mood today because the service was too performance oriented.  After church, we went to the condo and swam in the ocean...then we had a lazy day until night.

More to come!

• Friday, December 1, 2006 - December in Maui? (or, The Joys of Vacation-Part Three)

Of the time we have been in Hawaii, I DID NOT want December to come. It does not seem like almost Christmas until you see the banners on lampposts, wreathes, et cetera, that declare Christmas is coming. The good thing is that we are far from leaving. We are soon going to Kapalua beach to build... can you guess? Post a comment if you have an answer. Here in Hawaii, it is sooo easy to get along with your brothers.

3:46 PM

I just took a shower to wash the sand off of me. We just got back from the beach near us. We have built the official 2nd Kahana Kastle. I'm sorry to say that we DIDN'T go to Kapalua, but guess none the less. We did go to Black Rock...try to guess what we built there. After snorkeling at Black Rock, we went to an ocean park and had fun boogie boarding there(the best part was riding the waves in to the shore). Not too long before we snorkeled, we watched people surf HUGE waves at a different park(there was a sign that said "No Swimming." It was pretty obvious with the waves we saw there.).

 More to come!

• Thursday, November 30, 2006 - The Joys of Vacation-Part Two

We are having so much fun (almost this much fun>). I had a good night's sleep and woke up at 6:30. After breakfast my brothers and I went down to the beach and tried to protect holes by making sand walls. Then we went hiking in Iao Valley where I counted 346 stair steps (one time, though, I missed 1 step and I'll never forgive myself)! After that, on our way back, we played tennis again. Before I go on, though, we will go BACK TO THE PAST! First of all, that picture in the top left corner is my dog, Chance.

Back to Maui: Next, 2 days ago I snorkeled in the pool. Last, it rained real hard last night. Oh, I almost forgot...we almost got eaten by cannibals(just kidding)! Back to today...we built this really neat castle on the beach which we named "Kahana Kastle"...we also boogie boarded on the ocean. On the way back from showing my grandpa our "Kahana Kastle", he picked an under-ripe breadfruit which has very sticky latex (also called juice). That was about 30 minutes ago...

Hang on...more tomorrow!

• Wednesday, November 29, 2006 - The Joys of Vacation- Part One

I apologize about not writing for sooo long, but things have been busy at home and I forgot almost altogether about my blog. But now that we're on vacation, I have more than enough time to write. You ARE wondering where we are, aren't you? Well, ahem...drum roll please...i'll tell you later.

Monday, 27th

We got up got dressed, and left for the airport. After having lunch and waiting for our plane we went on a 5 hour trip to...somewhere, where we had a lazy night.

Tuesday, 28th

The pressure is on me and i'll tell you where we are...Kahana, Maui, Hawaii. I woke up at 5:15 and stayed in bed til' 6:30(?). At 6:30(?) I watched the waves on the ocean(we are staying at Kahana Village which is right by the ocean...A special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Ozenbaugh for the use of their condo...and my Mom and Dad for taking us on this trip) and wrote until breakfast. After breakfast we went to Boss Frog's to rent snorkel gear. After that we snorkeled. After that we came back and took a walk on the beach. After that we played tennis( this IS me rambling, just to let you know). After that we went to the pool, went to the beach, then went snorkeling(again) and saw a turtle. After that we came back and went to sleep.

Today, 29th

The morning started out the same as yesterday. We went to the beach with my grandparents (excluding my parents since they had to go listen to a time-share spiel). Then we went to Lahain town.  I bought a key chain and a license plate that said "Kaki-Casey" (Kaki is my Hawaiian name).  Then we had a lazy day until we ran, and that was 3 hours ago.

Well, I will be writing about other days in Maui.

• Thursday, April 20, 2006 - What's the Problem?

Not too long ago our family experienced a breakdown on my mom's computer.  It had nothing to do with my brother, Kevin, calmly turning off the computer.  It's just that the problem came after that.  The problem came when we turned the computer back on.  The computer wouldn't go through with the whole start up!  Yikes! My Dad decided to fix it the easy way*. He just re-installed Windows, reloaded all our programs, tried to save Mom's lost files... Problem fixed easily, huh*? No, I'm afraid not. It took him about two days but finally, he fixed it.

Sometimes  I have breakdowns with my brothers which aren't always easily fixed.  Our friendship is only fixed when someone is willing to say "sorry".

Do you ever have a breakdown with your brothers or sisters?

Maybe it's time to say "I'm sorry."

• Sunday, April 16, 2006 - With all your might? I should have thought of that!

Well, if only this was the only part of the verse then you're in trouble. This is not to be a thought in any household. This is saying something like this... "Well, you're not agreeing with me so..." POW! That's what you hear while the bigger brother hits his little one followed by a, "Ha. You can't mess with the Bible. Remember, 'With all your might'!" There are several things wrong about this fight. First, the verse is "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength," not, "with all your might." Second, they don't understand the Bible (go read to understand, go read!). Third, they're fighting. Last, and most important is the fact that the thing is to glorify God, not cast down your brother! You can (and I can!) learn by this by keeping in mind that the Bible is not to be altered or misapplied.

                                P.S. Happy Resurrection day!

P.P.S. My dad, a pastor, mentioned in church today about Thomas Jefferson, who altered the Bible so that the end of the Gospels read, "They laid him in the tomb and departed."

• Sunday, April 9, 2006 - Indianapolis Joe: And the Brothers' Crusade

This is inspired by HRTF on my friends list.

Chapter 1

Joe was in a field thinking. Not about any ordinary thing, but about this moving to California issue he'd unfortunetly stumbled across. I mean, come on, how could he say goodbye to his friends, after being the "star" of them. He couldn't change his nickname, either, his friends had called him it for so long.

That nickname was Indianapolis Joe.

Chapter 2

The next minute, Joe's brothers Zach, Jake, Andrew, Nathan, and Gilbert all came out. After whispering for what seemed like 10 minutes, they all agreed on something, then said to Joe,  in unison, "Joe, wanna pway?" (The little kids drowned out the older kids). All of them were young, the oldest 9, and Joe replied with a firm, "No." He then thought, "Brothers. Always ruining my day. Why do we need them, anyways? They are worse than dogs." (Don't worry, he'll change his ways).

• Tuesday, March 28, 2006 - To do

well, this time i will talk about what you should do with your brothers.

first, you should suggest something to them. for example, let's say you suggest Stratego. then they say no, and suggest to go outside. you think, "'no! i don't want to do that!" okay, then it's time for step 2. after your brothers suggest  going outside, don't simply respond with a "no". think ahead. think what the consequences will be if you do that. step 3.  give in.  OR... step 4, decide together what you think is best (you know, compromise). i hope this helps you decide what's best to do with your brothers.

• Monday, March 27, 2006 - On brothers

Brothers can be a pain in your neck sometimes, but mostly, they are your best friends. And friends are close together. If some of you like your friends more than your brothers, that is a very wrong action. You would be doing something close to what Cain did to Abel, causing a weak relationship. Others will follow with that weak relation, including younger brothers. Younger brothers will follow because they usually like to copy others. So a note to the older brothers; do not cause others to fall, and to the younger brothers; avoid copying others in a bad situation.
