I have recently been studying God's word on Joy. Sometimes it gets tough homeschooling. My two Children are 16 & 14 now and have some personality clashes (sounds better than arguements) during the day. I felt like I wasn't very joyful and my attitude was spilling over on my family. So I thought, if I want joy I needed to seek it. Go and find it. I turned to God's word. He has quite a lot to say about joy. Psalm 5:11-12 (NKJV) says: 11 But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend (protect) them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You. 12 For You, O Lord will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield. Now I don't know about you but that makes me want to SHOUT for joy. God is protecting us. He is protecting our children and our homes. He will bless us and our homeschool time. As I studied the verses on joy I realized the people sought it out through the Lord. When they found it they SHOUTED for joy so loud that the bible says " they could be heard from afar off." We have only a little time with our children before they are grown. The small battles seem insignificant. We need to be persistent with their training even as young adults. We should direct them to God as their moral compass. We need to think of it as training and not defeat. Ask God for strength and wisdom not anger and strife. Ask Him for joy. Look for joy in what God has done in your life. I think if most of us look we have a lot to be joyful for, starting with our salvation. We need to ask God to forgive our short comings with our children and then forgive ourselves. And MOVE ON. Don't let satan beat you up with yesterdays mistakes. God isn't finished with us yet! Bless you today. Read God's word with your children. He is the maker of our homeschool. Deb |
