Hmm… last post was June 4th.
I have been dealing with depression since 2004/5 and have been seeing my doctor every 2 months from June 2009 and in July this year, we finally found the right dosage, I think. I still have moments, but not as long or as deep as I was dealing with.
Financially it’s the pits and the Lord provided a job for me, laying it in my lap, almost on a silver platter. My husband’s been very patient and hasn’t pushed me into the working world, although has encouraged some income to come from me.
Three weeks ago, a friend in my dog club told me that her Dog Scout group leader had sent out a letter saying that PetSmart was looking for a part-time dog trainer. I’ve been teaching Beginner Training for the last 4+/- years with my dog club, so I went ahead and applied for it. Days later, I had a phone call to set up an interview, then a few days later had a drug test, then another interview with the Area Trainers. The day after that I went in and filled out the paperwork, and on the 19th of this month was my first day of training (16 hours in “my” store). I’m about to begin my 2nd week at the store the Area Trainers are located at, for th 80 hours of hands-on training, so should be in my “home” store in the middle of next week. I’m still a little apprehensive as I’ll be observed teaching this next week and because I need to sell 4 training classes (to 4 people) as part of the training process. I’ve given out several info “packs” and talked to a lot of people with & without their dogs (and other pet owners showing where product is), but haven’t “closed a sale” as yet of a training class. (Prayers appreciated, although the training really does sell itself. Who doesn’t want a pleasant companion who has good manners?)
I’m grateful for the part-time part of the job too, as I need to be available to take Mom to doctor appointments and such, so that will be handy.
Mike (son) is starting his second year of college at the community college, first session that he’ll be taking 4 classes. (He started this year, Jan 2010, with only 2 classes/half load; then with both summer sessions having 2 classes as a full load; this will be the first time that he has 4 classes in the same semester.
Glenn (husband) has bought all the lumber parts & whatever else is needed for our porch. He’s still digging out/leveling the ground under the porch. So there’s a lot more labor that he has to do (with help from Mike when available) before we have a working porch again though. And of course, Glenn is working on it around his work schedule. Jobs are still a bit scarce for him.
My mom is getting Home Health Care (1x/week – nurse, 3x/week -aid, and 2x/week – physical therapist) and she was just re-certified for another 60 days. She was briefly hospitalized over July 4th weekend for a small bit of pneumonia. She’s getting her strength back slowly, but steadily, if she doesn’t try to overdo when she feels good. (She was able to attend church last Sunday and worked her volunteer time w/the babies today; maybe another 2-3 weeks of doing one or the other, before we try doing both hours+.)
So there’s an update for you!
