Adventures with Popcorn
Author: Little Farm Mama | Filed under: Our School Days 2010-2011A while back I was at my Dad’s house and he was out rummaging through his garage looking for things for my brother. Hanging on his wall was an old popcorn popper that you use to pop corn over a campfire. He saw me looking at it, and gave it to me. I have been wanting to use that thing ever since! My husband suggested we try it out on the stove inside the house (now why didn’t I think of that earlier?) and so today we did.
We used a glob of coconut oil and about 1/2 cup of yellow popcorn kernels. My husband shook it as the kernels popped to prevent scorching.

Here is an up close look at the popper itself. You can see the popcorn through the vent holes.

The lid slides back to pour out the popped corn. It came out perfect!

Some of the kids taste testing it, I think they gave it a thumbs up!

I wish we had used it sooner! We have popcorn a lot around here, I have made it with an air popper, in a pot on the stove, and now with the campfire popper. I have to say, this method made the crunchiest fluffiest popcorn I have ever had. I think it was because of the vent holes that let the steam out. The air popper kind was always too dry, and the pot on the stove method did not let out steam, it was good, but a little on the chewy side. I have found my perfect popcorn!
Thanks Dad!
