The Homeschool Share Blast is over...and YOU are a winner!
Posted in HSS
After lots of late nights, many cups of coffee and tea, and much discussion, Ami, Wende, and I are soooo happy to say: The Blast is over!
The HSS website has been updated to reflect all the wonderful resources folks sent in for the Blast contest.
We held lots of drawings and contacted the lucky winners of each category. But you know what? YOU are a winner too!
YOU get to use all the wonderful literature-based unit studies, lapbooks, and notebooking pages that can be found on HSS. And you get to use them for free! Hope they are a blessing to you!
BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!! Ha, ha...couldn't resist! But really, we do have one more prize to hand out and YOU get to help us decide.
Just go to the Winners Circle page....there are 8 units/resources listed that did not win any prize (pout, pout...but that's the luck of the draw). They were well done and we really think at least one of them should get something, sooooooooo......you get to vote for one of them! Just look over the new units/resources and then go back and vote for your favorite. Hurry, the voting ends this Friday night at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern!)

Do you like to lapbook? Here are lots of FREE ones!
Posted in HSS
Most of us are on a tight budget, so we tend to just love getting great freebies. Does that sound like you too? Well, I just had to blog (once again!) about the
Home School Share website at
www.HomeSchoolShare.com.
Not only does the site have
over 200 free unit studies based on some great children's books, but it also has
over 100 free lapbooks. Many of the units have lapbooks (or notebooking pages) to go along with the unit book. Recently,
Ami also expanded to include lots of lapbook templates and several thematic lapbooks.
So, if you're looking for a lapbook for Valentine's Day, or to study the election process, or to help your student learn phonics rules or math facts, to study about animals, or to do a poetry unit, or just about anything else.....then Home School Share is the place to go! And
new items are added on a regular basis!
Here's a link directly to a list of lapbooks available at HSS.
Here is a direct link to lots of templates to help you with other lapbooks you might want to make.
And here is the direct link to "
What's New."
But believe me,
you'll want to poke around the site for awhile.....the more you look, the more you'll find. There's something for everyone....and it's all free!
Turn your homeschool into funschool today!

Need a last minute gift idea???
Posted in HSS
Do you like to bake cookies? How about a coupon booklet that gives the bearer a dozen cookies each month?
Do you (or the kids) draw? How about a coupon booklet that gives the bearer a drawing each month?
My dear friend Ami, from
HomeSchoolShare.com, has such a knack for putting together cool lapbook and notebook components has come up with a couple of great gift ideas to get those hard to buy for folks on your list. All you need to do is print them off and collate them and wrap 'em up. What a fun idea!!!
You will Adobe Reader to access the PDF files, but you can download it for free on the Adobe site.
Click here to download the Cookie of the Month coupon booklet.
Click here to download the Artwork of the Month coupon booklet.
Enjoy! And if you like or have thought about doing unit studies, be sure to check out
Home School Share! There are over 200 literature-based unit studies, many of them with lapbooks or notebooking pages, and the best part is that they are all free! There are also many
FIAR (Five in a Row) resources and lapbook templates available (also free!).
Recently, Ami started a new section on the website....
Animal Studies. In this section, Ami has created lapbooks for a particular animal. They can be used alone to learn about a new animal, or be added to any existing science program you are using. Again, they are free.
If you've been thinking about doing unit studies or lapbooking, what are you waiting for? Give
HSS a try! You have nothing to lose and you just might find a whole new way of doing school that's fun for everyone!
And if you've never heard of
Five a Row, you gotta try it! It's inexpensive and you get a whole lot of curriculum, fun, and priceless moments with your kids!

A Lap-n-Note (tm) for Nico's Octopus!
Posted in HSS
The girls and I really enjoyed
this HSS unit! We learned a lot about octopuses!
Didn't Ami did an awesome job putting all the lapbook/notebook components together?! Thank you so much, Ami, for making our sharing time even better!
I was not able to include the last couple pages of our Lap-n-Note (tm) or the pages with all the minit books/flaps/etc opened up, but hopefully this will give you an idea of what our folder looked like when done.
If you want to see all the pictures,
