A Homeschooler's Thanksgiving
Things I am Thankful for: 1. God-
I am so thankful that I know the creator of the Universe. What an
awsome thought. WOW!! We can actually know the God that created
everything.
2. Family- My beautiful family. I don't know where I would be without them.
3. Friends-
My support system. When homeschooling is getting tough, having
homeschool friends is real important. They help lift you up when you
are down.
4. Church- It's wonderful to
have found a church that we feel at home in. Our church has a real
supportive homeschool group and I have made some good friends in it.
5. Living in the USA-
Yes, sometimes I really grumble about the bad stuff that goes on in my
country, but where else is homeschooling so accepted? I love learning
about other countries and the really neat things they have, but when it
comes down to it I'm an American and I love my country.
6. The ability to homeschool-
I'm thankful that my husband makes a living wage and eventhough it is
tight, I get to stay home with my beautiful children and get to be the
one who teaches them.
7. Books, Books, Books-
I love books! There are so many choices out there. Homeschoolers now
days have it great, there are so many talented people who are supplying
us with an almost endless amount of choices. If you don't believe me,
just take a look at The Rainbow Resources catalog sometime.
8. Internet-
Wow! We are really living in a unique time in history. As for
educational resoures, I think the Internet is probably the biggest
reason homeschooling took off when it did.
9. Education TV-
I know, I know, too much tv is bad for you, but there are really some
great shows for children and sometimes seeing something visually will
leave a big impact. Used sparingly and wisely, I think media of any
type can really jazz up your homeschool.
10. Turkey Day-
What? It's not a homeschool event?!? Can't we claim it? Its a great
time with the family and a learning experience for the children.
Hmmmm..... sounds kinda homeschoolish to me!
What are you thankful for?

Great post on thankfulness. Agree with every one of your points! Especially, right now, on being in America. There is so much anti-Americanism even among citizens; it really angers me. People are so ignorant of how great they have it here and how much good the US does in the world. (And yes, I know this country is not perfect and our leadership does make mistakes, etc.)
Oh and re: your comment on my blog, OK to laugh, I was laughing at times as I wrote it! :-)

I appreciated your post. We do have a lot to be thankful for, don't we? Sometimes I need to be reminded of these things. I know you included God in your list, but I also wanted to add the Bible. So many times during the day I refer back to a verse that fits a specific situation... for encouragement, wisdom, or strength to get through the day. And, we can't forget Jesus, for He says that He is "the way, the truth, and the life" and "no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6) Thanks for sharing!

Your right in saying the Bible and Jesus should be included. I was thinking of it as one big package, but others, especially from other religions may not understand that. I am very thakful for my Savior Jesus Christ and I am very thankful that gave us his word and through it we can understand and know him better. Thank you for pointing it out.
