How do you say goodbye to a friend of 30 years?
I found out tonight that a very close friend of almost 30 years is moving. We met in first grade and became fast friends. We did so much together, even went on vacation together. She was my matron of honor and I was her maid of honor. We don't talk as much as we should anymore, our lives are so different, but she is someone who will be a friend no matter what. Well, I guess we really get to test that out. She's not moving to just another state, no she has to move big time. She's moving to POLAND of all places!!! Her husband got a promotion and they are going to be there for 2-3 years. Sigh! Well, I'm just glad we live in the era of e-mail!!!

I know you will always have a special place in each other's hearts. Being in the military, I've had to deal with this a lot in life. Some people, regardless of the distance will always be close.

Thanks for stopping by.
I'm so sorry about your friend moving. This happened to me last October. Of course we never live anywhere very long, but it happened that I moved to where she was only for her to move 2 months later. I was bummed. But, you're right, e-mail is amazing.

Maybe the move will actually bring you closer. You know the old saying, "you don't know what you have until it's gone."

It is a hard thing, but it can be done. This Christmas I finally got to see a friend from college whom I hadn't seen in 15 yrs. because she lived all over the US and Germany (army wife) and I was always in Texas r Idaho. It makes those reunions super sweet, but you do miss them terribly. :)

My best friend moved away a couple of years ago. It was extremely hard to see her go even though I knew she was in the Lord's will. We both home school 3 kids who are around the same ages. We had been in the habit of talking on the phone nearly every day. One thing that has been a huge blessing to us since her move is Instant Messaging! You can get Yahoo IM for free. If you both have it then you can chat in realtime for free whenever you both are on-line. My friend and I have a standing chat date every afternoon, when we are both available. It has saved us probably hundreds in phone bills!
