Iditarod

          The Iditarod is scheduled to start on March 3^rd, 2007.  For those of you that are unsure what the Iditarod is, it is a 1049 mile dogsled race through Alaska.  It’s purpose is to commiserate the dogs and runners that ran the medicine trail in 1925 during a diphtheria epidemic. Balto was the most famous of these dogs. 

          I made up this unit for my children and I’m sharing it with you.  Please check any links before you share with your children as I have not yet checked them all thoroughly.  Some additional items that may be useful to you but not necessary are The Iditarod lapbook and Polar Habitat lapbook.  This unit is designed to be used with the Alaska Unit Study, but I split them so they can be used separately.  Alaska will be stored in my Stated Study category and Iditarod will be stored under my Unit Study category.

You do some amazing research. Did you know that? When do you find the time? I sometimes feel overwhelmed with my three blessings just trying to get my comic strips together each week after working with them. Thanks for all the useful links. Haven't looked at all your entries, if you happen to have anything good in the direction of higher math--algebra, geometry and trig--let me know. I'm suffering right along with my daughter. ;o)
