I went to the Cincinnati Homeschool Conference this weekend!
It was so cool!!!!! It was my first big conference out of my almost 5 years of teaching. I got to hear a lot of awesome speakers over the course of the weekend. On Thursday night, I got to hear Little Bear and I was not familiar with him, but he was so funny. His seminar was about making history interesting. I wish I would have had a teacher like him when I was in school. The rest on Thursday, I spent browsing. It was less crowded that night and I really got to look at a lot of the things I am interested in purchasing this year. I also got a chance to talk to some of the authors themselves and ask the questions I needed answering. On Friday, I got there at 10:00. I got to hear Maggie Hogan talk about Hands on Geography, I got to hear a seminar about combining Classical, Charlotte Mason and Unit Studies, and I got to hear from Visual Manna on incorporating art into the core subjects. The rest of the day I hung out with one of my friends and did more browsing (and some buying!). By Saturday, I was exhausted!!! I didn't arrive there until 11:30! I got to hear Linda Hobar talk about The Mystery of History and about the Middle Ages. And then I went to a seminar by Steve Lambert of Five in a Row. I was hoping to hear Gena Suarez (TOS magazine) but she was unable to make it. I browsed for about an hour more and then went home. I was so tired!!!! I grabbed a Tim Horton for the drive home. All of the speakers were really great and I feel I learned so much. My head is swimming from too much info being poured in, in too short of time!!!

Praise the Lord for HS conventions. I didn't get to go to ours, also this weekend. But I have always been greatly encouraged when I am able to go.
About my 200 posts...well, maybe I talk too much about nothing!

No fair!! :) I LOVE homeschool conferences and am SO hoping to be able to go to one near me this year. They are so inspiring and refreshing and necessary to my sanity. LOL! I would've loved to have gotten to listen to the Mystery of History talk. I've wondered what that program's like.
I used to live 10 minutes away from where a HUGE convention is held every year, and now I have to drive 2.5 hours to one not near as good. Oh well.
Love, Alyssa

Did he talk about that at all? He has some really good books and a very neat story of his life and living w/ ADHD - he still has it, too! It helped us understand our son a bit better
