A Mother's Job is Never Done!!!
Posted in Things that make you go hmmm...

I want to thank everyone who left comments on my blog about the $20,000. It was really fun reading all the answers.
Last week there was an article floating around about how much a Mother’s job is worth. So I started to thinking about what all jobs I do around here. I started writing this little post and then one of my friend’s beat me to the punch and blogged about it. Here is her link (Sawickis), so you can read what she said about it. She also has a link to a calculator that you can figure it up individually for yourself. According to the article I read, a Mother’s job is worth $138,095, I’ve seen some other figures floating, but they are all in the same ballpark. But this figure is highly subjective considering all of us have unique lives. Some moms farm, some take care of pets, all us on this blog school our children so that sets us apart right there. So what all jobs do I do? Here’s my list:
- Guidance Councilor
- Social Worker (we are advocates for our children!)
- School Teacher/ Special Education
- Preschool Teacher
- After School Daycare Worker
- Physical Therapist (Luckily I don’t do this one so much anymore, but sometimes)
- Pharmacist ( I dispense a lot of medicines)
- Buyer
- Curriculum Designer (I’m never satisfied with curriculum as is, I have to mess with it)
- Short – Order Cook
- Waitress

- Chauffeur
- Psychologist (Not only do I have the normal kid stuff, but since my kid has ADHD and OCD, I have to read up on his conditions and learn how to help his treatment along.)
- Social Director
- Laundress
- Information Gatherer ( ok, I couldn’t think of a real title)
- I would say cook and maid, but my husband helps out a lot in these areas and quite frankly, I doubt anyone would pay me for the job I do!
*sigh* My hubby and I have gotten in the habit of fixing convenience foods, but I guess with all the other issues going on in our life, that is just the season we are in.
I’m sure there are other jobs that I can’t think of right now. I would love to hear about what you do. Please either leave a comment with your list or if you choose to put it on your blog, please leave a comment letting me know you blogged about it. And NO Professional Blogger is NOT a job!!!
Happy Mother’s Day!!!!

Alright, well now I'm going to have to think of some other things if professional blogger is not an option. ;)

Happy Mother's Day to you too!
For me, I'd have to add accounts manager and conflict mediator, although my oldest is getting pretty good at that and relieves me. Add diplomat to the list of professions she could go into.
Of course, I prefer the general title of Circus Ringmaster. :o)
Peace and Laughter,
Cristina

oh I enjoyed your list! Loved it! I will have to think on it.. thanks for the tip on the history scribe-so cheap! I think I will get the medieval one to finish off the year- she is getting tired of constructing compositions for me and I don' t blame her. The books should be to you by the end of the week...Hope I did good with what I chose for you...have a great mother's day.
ps Are you sure professional blogger doesn't count? :)
