Tomorrow (the 15th) is my birthday, but unfortunately my greatest birthday wish/ prayer is far from being fulfilled. More than anything, I just want both of my children healthy. My little one is doing pretty good (hopefully) but we do have some concerns. But our oldest one is a mess. It is breaking my heart to see him suffer so much and I have to admit I am feeling some resentment too. He has turned our lives upside down and sometimes I feel like I will never have a normal life again. I was with him at his doctor's today and she took him off some of his medicines because they may be causing emotional problems. About the time he went through his first med switch (a month ago) he started bursting into tears over everything and getting aggressive. They switched his meds and he is still doing it, so she is taking him off of them to see if things settle down some. He will still be on his ADHD meds and the meds to calm him down to get to sleep, but no meds for the OCD. Next week we have an appointment with a new therapist who specializes in OCD. I am really hopeful with this. His last therapist did not seem to know how to treat OCD or at least it did not comform to what the Obsessive- Compulsive Foundation and all the books (including one she recommended) say is the best treatment for OCD. Needless to say after 10 months of therapy, we got nowhere and if anything, he was worse than before. If you think about it, could you please pray we are going in the right direction with his treatment? I just don't know if I could deal with another year of chasing bunny trails. We really need some relief.

You are in my prayers. I am so sorry for what you are going through. I know it can sometimes feel like we are chasing our tails with treatments and such. Prayer and seeking the Lord is truly the best way to go about this. I pray that He shows you want He wants done with His child.

Being that it is already tomorrow (it is 3:21 am where I am) I want to wish you a Happy B-Day.
Remember this is the day the Lord has made be glad and rejoice in it. Not only that, but this is the day that he created the wonderfully made person that is you.
He also will not give you more than you can handle, so as hard as it seems right now, remember to lean on Him and press on. God is right there by your side, never leaving you nor forsaking you.
God Bless,
JEN

Have a blessed birthday! I will pray! I don't have any answers but my thoughts are to look for the blessing. I always try to remember that. We had some tough times with my husband very ill for 5 years and there were many lessons through that time that resulted in blessings. I would not chose to go through it again (if it was up to me) but I am am so grateful for it now.

I hope you enjoy your day. I'm asking the Lord to give you His peace today.
Sorry to hear about your troubles. There are few things worse than dealing with health and/or behavior issues in your children. I'm praying for you.

And happy birthday! I hope you feel Gods love and grace for you today as you celebrate his gift of life. I'm sorry you're going thru so much. It's frustrating when you feel powerless to help your kids. We go thru that with our 7 yr.old's stuttering.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I hope you have a wonderful Birthday.
Good luck With the doctors. I have a friend who has a ADHD girl who is 10 and I understand how difficult it can be on some days. Having both problems would make it very hard to know if you were going to have a good day or a bad day.
I will pray that things improve, and the doctors will find something that will help.

I pray this all gets straightened out and the right help/drugs/whatever is needed found! I first instinct was to get you in touch with a friend of mine that has a son (6yo) who sounds like he has the same diagonses. I don't know if it would help, but maybe you two compare notes?
Wishing you're Birthday had some well deserved happiness,
Your friend,
Vicki

I'm so sorry to hear how discouraged you are. You must be tired, too? I've been there, too, somewhat, as you know.
I see different scenarios.....I'm a bit of an analyst...I hope you don't mind. Either the Lord heals and takes this away, or the right medicines are administered to properly correct the chemical imbalances or whatever it is, or this is something the Lord has planned, at least for a season. There may be more I haven't thought of.
I would go for the first, myself! But I think meds can still be pursued, and He can make it obvious they are no longer needed....eh? It can take a while to get the right combination and strengths.
When she was about 13, my daughter was healed of something she was born with . She's now 17 and it has never come back. I see the training hearts post is about miracles. I'll probably do the post on it.
Be encouraged....

I'm sorry I missed your birthday yesterday! I hope you were able to stay home and just be a mom. I am praying for you and your son. It sounds like things are really tough right now. I will pray that this new therapist is able to give your son just what he needs.

Oh, Lynn. I'm sure my mom went through the same fears as you are. My chronic asthma made me a constant visitor to the emergency room and hospital. My mother was certain I would never lead a normal life (well, she was right there, but I'm not normal by choice (o: ). Our weaknesses can become our greatest strengths. They create us into the people we become. I do not regret having asthma. It made me more appreciative of the fragile nature of life. Have faith and hope.
About your comment--There must be something about being born on the 15th! My daughter also stood up the day after she was born while holding my father's hands. It fit her personality. She always liked to stretch out when she slept. I built a whole routine around her--Annette Schwarzenbaby, strongest baby! I wouldn't get a cuddly, snuggly baby until my son was born. More on that Sunday!
Peace and Laughter,
Cristina

Sorry I missed your birthday, but here is a belated Happy Birthday!
It is heart wrenching to watch our children struggle and extremely frustrating when the behaviour can really send the house into total dysfunction. I am praying for your family, to get some real help in the areas needed.
