I'm doing this a little late, but it's kinda long and I wanted time to do it justice. After yesterday's post, I thought I would do something a little less depressing, so I thought this would be a good time to this BFS Assignment. While I'm sure that miracles probably happen all the time, with God's protection I may never until Heaven know how much he has had his protection over me. But I do know of two distinct times that God's protection saved me from harm and possibly kept me from dying.
Miracle #1 happened when I was a teenager. I don't remember how old I was. I was on my way to King's Island with my youth group. My friend's father and his wife were driving us down there. The dad was driving my parent's station wagon, this was the car that I was in. Another friend and I were in the very back, it was one of those seats that you rode backwards in (remember those?). Our car was the front car and the man's wife was following behind us. We were taking the senic route to King's Island instead of the interstate and it meant going through a lot of rural areas. All of the sudden, we came to a sudden stop. The wife in the car behind us eyes were as big a saucers (remember I'm facing backwards), I turn around and there was a train! This was one of those rural tracks that had no light and no gate that comes down. To make matters worse, trees lined the tracks up until it got to the road. There was no way to see the train until it was crossing the road. I found out from my friend (the son of the man driving) that his father never stops for train tracks unless there is a train. That is why he came to the sudden stop. He had not planned to stop for these track either, but for some reason he did this day. For some reason he slammed on his brakes at the last minute. I don't know if he happened to hear the train, if he just "got a feeling" or if he heard a still small voice. I will never know for sure, but what I do know is he had no intention of stopping and at the last minute he did. I also know without a doubt that it was God. Some may doubt it or say we just got lucky, but I know I felt God's presence that day. Later we went to an Amy Grant concert, the night was absolutely georgous. I just felt so close to God that night. I just totally felt his presence, especially as Amy Grant sang her song, El Shaddai.
Miracle #2, happened when I was a young adult. I was driving my car coming off of north bound Interstate 75 onto State Route 725. For the majority of you that have absolutely no clue where that is, 75 is one of two national interstates that cross in Dayton, needless to say they are very important to Dayton and probably the most traveled roads in Dayton. State Route 725 is one of the busiest shopping areas in Dayton. The interchange of 75/ 725 is one of the busiest areas in all of Dayton. So any ways, I'm coming off the interstate to 725 (going down a hill) when my brakes go out. My emergency brake barely worked so I through my car into 1st gear. This can cause the car to drop their transmission but at this point I didn't care!!! Btw... this was about 3:00 in the afternoon, a very busy time for this area. As I approached the end of the exit ramp, I was able to go between the few cars that were at the bottom of the hill. I went strait through the intersection against the light, I continued up the entrance ramp on the other side, to get back on to north bound 75 and finally came to a stop on the shoulder. I still can't believe I was able to go between the cars, go through a red light (in one of the busiest intersections) and up an entrance ramp (one that has merges) without getting hit, without cause someone else to have an accident, without having any trouble except for needing to replace the brakes and a racing heart! Again, I have no doubt that the Lord was with me. Of course, I know he is always with us, but sometimes you just feel it more strongly than others, this was one of those times. I still do not know why God protected me the way he did, Lord knows I have disappointed Him many times (just look at my last post!) all I know is God never gave up on me!
El Shaddai by Amy Grant
El shaddai, el shaddai,
El-elyon na adonia,
Age to age you’re still the same,
By the power of the name.
El shaddai, el shaddai,
Erkamka na adonai,
We will praise and lift you high,
El shaddai.
Through your love and through the ram,
You saved the son of Abraham;
Through the power of your hand,
Turned the sea into dry land.
To the outcast on her knees,
You were the God who really sees,
And by your might,
You set your children free.
El shaddai, el shaddai,
El-elyon na adonia,
Age to age you’re still the same,
By the power of the name.
El shaddai, el shaddai,
Erkamka na adonai,
We will praise and lift you high,
El shaddai.
Through the years you’ve made it clear,
That the time of christ was near,
Though the people couldn’t see
What messiah ought to be.
Though your word contained the plan,
They just could not understand
Your most awesome work was done
Through the frailty of your son.
El shaddai, el shaddai,
El-elyon na adonai,
Age to age you’re still the same,
By the power of the name.
El shaddai, el shaddai,
Erkamka na adonai,
I will praise yo ’till I die,
El shaddai.
El shaddai, el shaddai,
El-elyon na adonai,
Age to age you’re still the same,
By the power of the name.
El shaddai, el shaddai,
Erkamka na adonai,
I will praise you ’till I die.
El shaddai.
