Update on Little One
The doctor's office called this morning and gave us the results of Little One's X-rays. He does have a blockage. That dark area that I asked about was not gas, it was stool. *sigh* It was quite a sizable area for such a little guy. I'm really surprised he is not in actual pain. They told us to give him Milk of Magnesia the first day (which I have no idea how we are going to get down him, he usually pukes up any nasty medicines that he is given) and then they told us to give him this other stuff (don't remember the name, but I have it writen down!) ever hour for the first 3 hours in the morning, for the next 3 days after the Milk of Magnesia is given. I was really concerned because my oldest is suppose to have his next therapy seesion tomorrow in Cincy and I didn't want Little One cramping and having diarrhea all the way to Grandma's house which is 30 minutes away. So I called the nurse back and she said we could start this on Saturday that he was in no immediate danger. I'm really glad about that and while I would willingly cancel the therapy appointment for an emergency, since Little One is not in a lot of pain or in danger, it makes sense to wait the extra day. The good news about all this is Hubby, of course, will be home this weekend and he is on vacation next week so I will have help with this. I'm just hoping it is all over with before we plan to go to the zoo! That would be a bummer if we had to cancel because I know the kids will have tons of fun there! But most of all, I just hope this corrects Little One's problem and that there's not something else causing the problem. He gets a lot of fiber (he eats Raisen Bran, at least 2 slices of whole wheat bread a day with 3 gms. of fiber each, sometimes oatmeal, sometimes Cherrioes, and has a cup of fruit juice each day) but we don't think he is getting enough water. He does get a cup for lunch, though he rarely finishes it and he rarely asks for a drink other than at meal time. So I'm thinking we are going to have to keep a sippy cup in his play area, remind him to drink and BRIBE him if necessary!

Oh, that is such a bummer. I don't think I could ever get those things into my summer. Very similiar, screams, cries and spits out all medicine. I will be praying for you. And that this will take care of everything. It is good that your hubby will be home, that has always helped me tremendously. :)

Sounds like Grace's last xray. They said she had massive amounts of stool in there, 2-3 weeks worth! They said it wouldn't hurt her, too. They said that some kid's intestines are just too good at extracting the water from the stool and it gets stuck. Extra water may help or may not,if it is an absorption problem like Grace's. Did they say to give him Miralax? We finally got her off of it. It did not really help her. Oh, I don't mean to be a bummer about this. I just truly feel your pain. Truly, truly!

Wow, I sure have gotten behind! I'm so sorry to hear about the x-ray. I hope that you can figure out a way for him to keep the meds down. I'm glad your hubby will be home!
We're doing school all summer, too, for some of the same reasons you are. Plus, I pay for it when we deviate too far from the regular routine (if there is such a thing!!). I try to keep a schedule...but things sure don't always turn out that way.
Our homeschool group has Picnic in the Park day every Friday throughout the summer, so we'll probably do that. I heard about the free movies, so I'll have to check that out, too, although that's a bit tough with the babies. (I guess my little girl isn't a baby anymore, but I still call her my baby!)
I also wanted to thank you for your post about your first marriage. I, too, was in an abusive relationship when I was young. I don't like saying that I got divorced, but look what happens when you talk about it! Look how many women could relate to what you wrote! I don't want to dwell on it, but I don't want to live in shame, either. So, thank you!
I'm just happy I'm married to such an awesome guy now!
It's so good to catch up with you. I'm praying for you, and I'll pray that your little guy is better soon!

Have you researched encompresis yet? You might want to collect some information. We had one situation with this when Ds was younger and had to manage it for a bit with occasional preventive doses of MofM. His was due to a specific diet required because of other health issues. There can be a lot of different causes. Hope you get some answers or at least no repeat performances!

We are going through a similar situation with my boyfriend's son. Because of the blockage, he has trouble recognizing when it is time to go to the bathroom. He will have accidents because of it. (He is 9 btw.) His stomach has been very bloated. The dr. that his mom takes him to has him on the Miralax (mentioned in someone else's comment). He gets that 2x a day. After every meal, he has to sit on the potty for 5 - 10 minutes. He has to show us before he flushes, so that we can see that he went and it's consistency.
Yuck! When I agreed to babysit, this was not what I signed up for. The first couple days, he tried to lie to me about it. I now also have to make sure that he is sitting on the toilet. I have been setting a timer and telling him that he can't get up until it goes off or he goes.
His mother feeds him mostly fast food. At my house, he is eating healthier than I think he ever has. Today my boyfriend commented that his stomach looks less bloated. So the healthy food and medicine are working for him.

I am really glad to hear it wasn't anything more than that. Like I said, my son went through this a year ago. It wasn't fun, he was actually having severe stomach pains. They made him go in for an MRI because of it all. The Milk Of Magnesia will help a ton! Even if it causes the runs, it will unplug him and keep him feeling better.
Best wishes to you both, sounds like you have had a hard few weeks.
