Today, while waiting to pick up my daughter and her friends from their film class, I was finally able to finish reading the Winter issue of TEACH magazine. It's interesting, the sub-title of TEACH reads "to encourage and challenge homemakers", and again with this issue, I find myself encouraged and challenged! The focus of this issue is hospitality. Publisher Lorrie Flem gently reminds readers that hospitality has everything to do with people, and nothing to do with our pride! Several articles cover different aspects of hospitality, including how to teach our children to be good guests, as well as how to include them in practicing hospitality. One of my favorite features of TEACH magazine is "Merchant Mamas", a 2 page spread that highlights four women who run home-based businesses. I also enjoy reading "A Day In the Life of a Homeschooling Family" (should be fairly self-explanatory what that is!). There's lots more, though - like product reviews, recipes and wisdom from The Urban Homemaker, and lots of articles filled with teaching and parenting tips. We're not nearly as hospitable at our house as we should be...or as I'd like to be. How is it that life seems to get in the way? Hospitality is something that God places great value on...but I tend to put it on the back burner. So then...who's coming over?? You might get a slice of homemade pizza on a paper plate...but you'd be welcome! |
