Apr. 8, 2008 - New Toy
I got a really cool toy for my birthday! (You thought only the kids got cool toys!) My family bought me a Blackberry. Yes, like I told my son that's like giving our toddler a Mustang - he'll think it's awesome, but won't have a clue what to do with it! When I asked if it had a manual, my husband pointed to our oldest and said "There's your manual". So, I get to take some Blackberry classes with my 14yo, who of course figurd it all out on the way home from Tallahassee. He showed me how to take a picture, check e-mail, check my blog and then I asked, how do you actually make a phone call on it? Sinc e that is the primary role for me - lol
Another gadget to get mad at! But it is a great fun to check e-mail in the car, go online or listen to music. Technology is really amazing. (I'm not all that dingy, just not hard wired for electronics!)

I am not ashamed to admit it~ I checked out a book called " Computer Dictionary for Children...and their parents" After having to depend constantly on my 12 yos and my husband to do anything on the computer besides send e-mails, I have decided to catch up with technology and learn how to use all of the electronic gadgets that surround me everyday.
I will learn to: *make changes and update my blog, by Myself!
(this includes messing with pictures - ack!)
*learn how to use all those different settings on my cell phone
(I'm not going to actually read the manual, but I figure if I
play with it enough I'll figure it out)
* reset the clock in the car ( WHY are there no directions?)
* play at least one computer game
I just might even buy an i-pod this Christmas - and I'll use it!!!

Nine Wierd Things About Me
(Things that would not come up in a conversation)
1. I can not wear house slippers during the day - I must have shoes on to feel like I'm ready.
2. The way certain words sound really bugs me, ie: morsel, parcel, noodle
3. I was Homecoming Queen my senior year of high school. (now my husband says I'm the queen of my home - isn't he sweet
)
4. When I am pregnant, I crave broccoli and marinated artichoke hearts.
5. When I'm teaching I have to have a pencil in my hand, even if I'm not using it.
6. Every room in my house has a junk drawer.
7. I can not read one book at a time. I like to have about three going at once, a 'mom' book, a political book, and a theological book.
8. As much as I love flowers, I can not keep them alive. My yard is the Botanical Garden of Death.
9. Whenever I am having company over I always end up cleaning something completely ridiculous, like under my bed or the top of the closet- As if anyone is going to see it?
Ok, now you all know how wierd I am. I tag : wadeboysmom

Oct. 18, 2006 - oops
Through circumstances beyond my control (namely a certain a child who will go unamed) my blog is altered from it's previous format. I'm trying to decide how I want to rework it now.
I'm going to attempt the impossible and go to bed early tonight. Too many late nights recently reading and writing blogs :)
Now four of the kids are sick. They just keep dropping like flies. But it doesn't last too long. My 2 yo is already getting back to finding trouble.
Must go,
Eyes are heavy, typing slurrrred, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Oct. 18, 2006 - Low-Tech Mama
The more I manuever around this site and visit more blogs the more amazed I am. Not only are there scads of clever writers but the graphics are wow. I most definately feel my total 'untechi-ness'.
Top Ten Ways To Know That You Are A Low-Tech Homeschooler -
1. You still think handwriting is an important subject.
2. You only have a cassette player in your car.
3. You aren't quite sure what an MP3 is.
4. You don't own an i-pod and wouldn't know how to use it if you did.
5. You call your hubby everytime you need to use the scanner.
6. You have a full digital camera and don't know how to unload it.
7. You still look forward to the mailman coming.
8. You didn't know what an Avatar was and had your 12 yo son change it for you.
9. You've NEVER played Chip.
10. You just laughed at 3 or more of these b/c you know you're one too.
Today was pleasantly rainy :) I really enjoy days where I have nowhere to go and we can mess the house up and not stress about it b/c there's time to clean later. And if school runs into the late afternoon, it's ok. That's been happening alot more lately since baby #6 arrived. I keep wondering if we're still taking on too many subjects or if I'm just slacking. Probably both.
I heard and saw on the news that it is snowing in much of the North US. My family in CO was getting alot -
I will try not to pout. It was 80 here but felt like 85 according to the Weather Channel. Blah.
You know, incidentally, I love watching the weather channel. Even on the computer. There is just something about watching weather patterns and knowing the temperature in Portland that makes you feel smart.
My three youngest are coming down with colds. Double blah. And my dh is supposed to be preaching tomorrow night. Well, he can bring me home the DVD to watch. If I can figure out how to work the DVD player
Until later ~ (or sooner depending on how you look at it)
