Hey Guys, this is for school work. My mom wanted me to take pictures outside and write about them, for writing. I'll probably have to do this every week, maybe every two weeks. So here it is, it's not very good though.

Picture 1:

Picture 1, is of a lake, the neighbours lake.  Of course I didn't go in to take this picture, it was taken from the road. As you can see, it's surrounded by the woods. They use the lake to go fishing in, I don't see them go down there as much as they used to. If I had a lake, I'd keep it clean and swim in it!

Picture 2:

Picture 2 is of hills and trees. It's much prettier in person though. My Aunt Deedy has a camper in our woods, which is where I took the picture. I'm in the camper right now. It's very nice
(I'm not really in the camper, but I was whenever I wrote that).

Picture 3:

Picture 3, is a picture of a Pepsi can lying on the ground. It's in our woods, but I didn't put it there. Whoever put it on the ground should've out it in a recycle bin, or at least thrown it away! I would have. This picture, represents littering.

Picture 4:

Picture 4, is again in our woods! It's actually a small area. I think it'd be nice to go camping there. I like camping. This place is flat, and surrounded by trees. I like the way the sun's shining through. It makes the picture very pretty.

Picture 5:

Picture 5 is a picture of my Aunt Deedy's camper. I like to go down there to the camper and listen to music and other things. It's nice down there, very quiet though. Sometimes I spend the night down there. I like doing that.

Alright so, my assignment is now done!!! :D But I'll probably post later, maybe later on tonight, or maybe tomorrow. Sorry if I don't by the way......

Kelsey

Monday, September 29, 2008 - Hopeful Farm Foundation

Hey Guys! So this is important, we know these people who are doing a thing called Hopeful Farm Foundation, which, I think this post will pretty well explain this. It's actually someone else's email that I want to copy and paste so I can show you guys this. It hasn't quite gotten completely started yet, we have to raise $74,000 dollars or more.......So if anyone wants to make a donation that'd be great! I've already made a donation by the way, it was $75 dollars, it's not much, but it will help, any little bit helps. :) So here's the post:

Dear Friends,

I would like to take a moment this morning to invite you and your children to participate in a very special event that is going on this week - something your family is just going to love to be a part of!

Many of you are familiar with our company publishing company Remembrance Press, home of the The Gift of Family Writing and The Girlhood Home Companion. This summer we began a new chapter in our lives with the founding of Hopeful Farm, a non-profit organization based in Kentucky that ministers to families impacted by special needs.

The vision for Hopeful Farm was planted in our hearts ten years ago, after the birth and death of their fourth child, Nicholas, who was born with a genetic syndrome. Now, Hopeful Farm is finally becoming a reality.

The mission of Hopeful Farm is truly unique and much needed as it seeks to provide an all-access environment in which families impacted by special needs may find time to focus on each other, build relationships, and gain refreshment and renewal in an escape from the exhausting grind of everyday life.

This is the first time Hopeful Farm has held a benefit of this magnitude, and you will not believe the resources that are being donated as a thank you for your participation. If you have been wanting some of my writing or drawing products to enrich your home school curriculum, not to mention our resources for mothers and daughters, this is something you have to see! www.hopefulfarmfoundation.org/benefit.htm

Not only that, but my publishing friends have donated some incredible resources as well, as a way to bless you for becoming involved in this very important work. Your family can have a direct impact on families with children with special needs - and in return, your own family will receive a blessing from all of the wonderful companies that have offered their products in support of Hopeful Farm.

If you would like to hear what Hopeful Farm is all about, you can access an online interview by Cindy Rushton with my daughter Claire and I at www.hopefulfarmfoundation.org/interview.html

This benefit will run for one week only until Sunday, October 5th, so take a look now...and please tell a friend or three or four about it!

Thank you and God bless,
Jill Novak
www.remembrancepress.com

I don't know how much that explains, but i hope it helps, anyway, if you just go to the website which is:

www.hopefulfarmfoundation.org

I did read this by the way, and I'll be doing a lot more Sign Language, and I'll also be teaching some to the family who's doing it (even though I don't know it all the way lol). If you guys can donate that's great, if not, that's fine to. :) Well, I guess I'll just end my post, so bye.

Kelsey

Tuesday, July 1, 2008 - Hey Guys!

As you can see I haven't posted in awhile. I have good reasons for that anyway, one of them is because I got sick, one of the medicines I was on, that was new, did some weird stuff to me.  I got better 3 or 4 days ago. I  wasn't really phycisally sick, but mentally, I remember it was 2 weeks and I was constantly crying and I did 2 other things that I won't mention, I wasn't myself obviously. For those of you who saw my mom's posts you know what happened, I did a couple of crazy things, or tried, but it's over. The medicine was Lodrane 24 and I was taking Asthma medicine (steroids),  I had to drink lots of water to get it out of my system. So I've been better for about a week. For those of you who were prayng for me, thank you, that was really scary and I'm happy that it's over with now.

Sunday, June 15, 2008 - THE POWER OF PRAYER........

Hey guys! Alright so, I know that I said that I wasn't going to be back until about 2 weeks later, but the other camp didn't really work out so it was pretty disappointing, but that's okay because what all happened at Signing camp was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I bet you guys are wondering about my title right now because I'm not really talking about that yet, I'll explain to you guys one of the things that happened at camp (you might cry). So here it is:

Alright so, I went to Signing Camp, and they also have a camp for Deaf kids, the Dean, which was also the mom of one of the Deaf campers son WAS Deaf!!!!! Thursday night at the campfire, our counselor, Wade (which is also April's son) was sharing some testimonies, and he kept saying "I hope you guys understand" and stuff like that. He said that thier Wednesday night services at church are really long and drawn out and he's always really tired afterwards and one of the nights a girl named Jennifer came running out of the church saying she wanted to pray for Alec to hear, so she asked April, and she said to ask Alec, so she did, and he said yes, it worked but he got scared so God took his hearing away, he said that he could still hear on Wednesday, but not any other day.  Well, afterwards, I asked Alec if  I could pray for him, he said yes, (THANK GOODNESS!!!!!!!) I was actually just going to pray for him in private, but they asked me to come up, and asked for him to come up and let all of us pray for him.  The counselors also asked if anyone else wanted to, first my friend Annie camp up, then a few other people, and in no time at all EVERYONE had come up! Our prayers we're answered, and SOOOOOOOOOO much more happened that night, but we were at the campfire until 2 o'clock in the morning praying!!!!!!! Normally, we're suppose to be in bed by 11, but that didn't happen, obviously!   April told Emily, the Asst. Director at the camp, we didn't get in trouble, so we're fortunate!!!!!!    April, who's been the Dean there for 13 YEARS said that this week was the best week she had ever had in all the years she'd been there!!!!! One thing that I forgot to mention is, Alec, is also mute, and he actually said about 4 or 5 words!!!!!!!  He said Wade, who is his older brother and even Friday he said V8!!!!!!!!! That doesn't sound like much, but it is!!!!!!  I remember his mom getting close to his ear and saying names and words to see if he could hear them, and signing "more" over and over again, it was amazing!!!!!  It wasn't just that miracle that happened either!!!!!!!! Gosh, I knew that prayer worked but not near THAT WELL, I mean really!!!!!!! So, I learned this week how powerful prayer is, and that was awesome!!!!!!! Even one of the counselors, Tashina, said that she didn't feel like we were just friends, or people that we just met, that she felt like we were a family, I know I did, actually, I think everyone did!!!!! So, here lately I've been really thinking and praying and hoping, that Alec can still hear, he can't hear completely, but more then what he did, and that's what matters. I have NEVER seen anything more beautiful then what I did then!!!!!!!! I think I'm going to end this story and post some pictures from camp now.  I'm to the left of the girl in the purple shirt!

Sunday, June 8, 2008 - Today

I got baptized today at church!   I have been waiting a long time to be baptized even though I accepted Jesus as my Saviour over 2 yrs. ago.  My mom baptized me which we thought was unusual since we had always known the Minister to be the to do it.  My mom was very nervous but I wasn't.  She said she though she was going to drop me or not be able to get me back out of the water without us busting out into huge laughter!  I'll be leaving for camp tomorrow morning!!!!!!!!!  YAY!!!!!  I can't stand to wait much longer, and the drive there is going to be like torture.  It takes almost 2 hours to get there.  It's going to be so much fun and I won't be back home until June 21st!  My mom and dad are going to come and we are spending the weekend together on the 14th-16th.  And don't forget the 15th is Father's Day!  The video below is my mom baptizing me this morning!   Have fun the next two weeks and I'll blog all about when I get back!!!!

Thursday, June 5, 2008 - Camp starts in 3 days (not counting today that is....) !!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey peoples!!!!!! I thought I'd blog again, so my friend Kaitlyn spent the night last night, there was a picnic at church, and she rode home with us. The picnic was AWESOME!!!!!! They had TONS of people and 2 live bands, but I don't know the names of them, just that they were good lol! Not counting today, there are, 3 days until camp, and I'm not counting today because it's 7:55 p.m. so there's really no point in doing that, Monday, we're leaving here at 10:30 a.m. Oh, and just so you know I'm going to a place called Aldersgate, the camp is Signing camp, then I'm going to Canoe camp, so that means that I'll be gone for 2 weeks straight. Just so you guys know, the only way that I'm able to go, is through donations, so I'm EXTREMELY thankful for that!!!! I'm thankful that I get to go anyway, but still. I wish Monday would hurry up and get here!!!! There's a bake sale for the volleyball/basketball teams at co-op Saturday, so means tomorrow I'll be busy baking and cooking some things for that, and I need to pack, either Saturday night, or Sunday. I'll probably pack Sunday, and if I have time Monday, then I'll blog before I leave. Gerald (my step -dad) is building onto our porch, so by the time I get back from camp, it'll probably all be built. I can't wait until Monday, YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CAMP IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Haha, sorry about that haha. Oh, I can't think of much else to blog about, so I'm ending my post, bye.
Kelsey

P.S. Sorry if I bored you guys to death, haha yeah, haha.

Thursday, May 1, 2008 - How I Fell in Love with Sign Language

This is a writing assignment that I had to do for my Creative Writing class at our co-op.

How I Fell in Love With Sign Language

Many people do not know that when I was born I was practically deaf. I have always been extremely interested in learning sign language and being able to teach it to other people. I also want to be able to use sign language in my community in order to communicate more effectively.

After reading brochures for summer camp my family and I decided that I would probably get more experience with learning sign language by going to a camp that specializes in it. I chose to go to Aldersgate Camp in Ravenna, KY because they have students who are deaf that attend and the counselors that work there communicate through signing and with the hearing students. I had so much fun the first year I went there even though I was extremely nervous. I began to realize how much sign language is not recognized in the real world. I also gained a love for signing and the strong desire to help people in the world who are deaf and sometimes cannot communicate because no one else understands them.

In my church I have done worship songs in sign language. Not many of the church members, probably none, understood the signing but they were happy that I was sharing what I had learned; of course, we had music playing so they knew the words from hearing the songs. This was a fun experience and I have shared song in sign several times since then. I also have done songs in sign while I was attending camp in the summertime.

I think I would enjoy going to college to study Deaf Studies or Interpretation so I could work in the that field. By doing this, I would be able to minister to the deaf community, get paid for it, and be an asset to many branches of the government and in society as well. My mom and I have looked into the course requirements for both fields of study and I think either one would be suitable for my interests.

Ultimately, I feel as though God gave me partial deafness as a gift. I have learned that many deaf or hard of hearing people do not go to church because they do not feel "included" in the worship. I think this is a sad thing! Signing is and has been a way that I have learned to communicate and also a way that I can minister to others as well. By learning more about signing it can be my gift back to God and praising Him for all He has given to me.

Thursday, April 17, 2008 - Philippians 2:5-15

Hi guys! Here's some scripture I'm suppose to memorize for the expo tomorrow at co-op. I've already got some memorized. I don't like doing it but I have to so here it is:

Philippians 2:5-15
(5) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
(6) Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
(7) But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
(8) And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
(9) Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every other name:
(10) That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth
(11) And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
(12) Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
(13) For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
(14) Do all things without murmurings and disputings.
(15) That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among ye shine as lights in the world.

There it is, as much as I don't like doing it, I must admit that it's very good scripture to memorize, well, actually all scripture is good, that why we should read it every day, and memorize scripture, which I don't like don't but, it does help in the real world, so yeah. Well bye.
