Creating a Garden Plan
It’s that time of year to create a plan for this year’s garden!
I get out the big desk size graph paper and we all get a piece. I love that each child will focus on something different but when put together creates a lovely garden.
This year I don’t know exactly what we are going to do. The kids and I have some challenges when it comes to gardening. Most of us have a very hard time in temperatures that are too high or too low. By that I mean the human body likes 73 degrees to stay neutral. If we go more then ten degrees up or 20 degrees down we can get very sick. Two of my children don’t sweat or shiver their body no longer responses to temperature stimulus at all.
There is also a growing mobility question. I and my daughter will be getting electric wheelchairs soon. This is not going to work in the garden at all. So what’s a gardener with a will to do?
POTS! and in the garden I am going to put things that can stand inattention. If I keep it simple and have hubby mulch thickly the weeds should be kept at bay. The POTS will be accessable to everyone so that shouldn’t be too hard.
I do miss the fact that I will not be able to feed the family from the garden in a large and financially meaningful way. I will still need to rely on local farm stand or the store.
I do take heart that I am not quitting. I am showing the kids that even with problems we keep fighting. Get inventive! Don’t give up!
