Our twenty-second anniversary has come and gone and what a lot of amazing, exciting, heartbreaking and weird things have happened over those years. In some ways, it feels like our journey together started yesterday, in other ways, it feels like one hundred years have passed. I am thankful for the lessons I have learnt in this time; God is patient, forgiving and merciful. We haven’t been away together, alone, for twenty years, so we took the opportunity to stay at a bed and breakfast for one night. I wasn’t anxious at all leaving the children home alone. Redbrow is only thirty-five minutes drive from our home. We aren’t very daring, maybe next time we will venture further afield. I read about Redbrow bed and breakfast on Jocelyn James blog recently when they stayed there for their anniversary. The B&B is set on 25 acres with many beautiful gardens to enjoy. The thing we enjoyed the most, the peace and quiet with no interruptions from children. It is amazing just how little time we have had to chat or just be together without someone running in to notify us of world war three. However much we would have liked to spend more time away, we did feel that one night was enough time away from the children, and I think the feeling was reciprocated.
We had pushed off from land before we realised we were both in the wrong position in the boat and couldn't change seats because the boat would tip. I spent our lovely time on the water looking at John's back. At least it is a nice back and so, I didn't mind at all.
