Quote of the Day~ Surely you can't be serious!

                                I am serious...and stop calling me "shirley"!!

Bwahahaha! That one gets me every time! So my lil sis got confirmed today! She was so beautiful and the service was great...as always! Much of the family came to watch...we took up a good portion of the pews! LoL Btw, my sis now has a blog! Her username is YuisHSB. She's really cool and there for me, though we can be soooo different.

I went to a friend's, Amy, bday party the other night and it was fun! We played this game called Sardines, which is "Backwards Hide and Seek", but many kids very much disagreed with that title. We played that...in the DARK! Scarwey! We ate hot dogs and chips and stuff and hung out. It was fun!

I've been watching Indiana Jones movies lately! LOVE THEM!!!!!!!! And I've decided that the Indiana Jones theme makes me want to put on a fadora, find an ancient artifact buried deep underground for hundreds of years, then escape bravely and adventerously from people trying to capture me, facing my fears along the way.

...I'm quite a chicken, actually...

Au revoir!

• May 12, 2008 - I can't remember! My brain's in a blender! It's Jell-O! Jell-O! Jell-O!

Yes, yes, I know the title of my entry seems weird...but I do have a good reason! :)

So, I am back from my homeschool-blogger-fast, and can't even remember when I last logged on...I guess you all have the right to say "shame, shame!", but...please don't.

I am soooooo excited! Yearbook is officially OVER!!!  I'm kinda sad and kinda....not. And I'm sending in my application to be a jr. counselor again! Woop-Woop!! Yearbook was so fun...except the selling-of-ads, I s'pose, but hey: I can get past that, eh? And jr. staffing! Oh, I cannot wait! Its gonna be awsum!

I was in a play the other day, which  was fun. I played this entertainment writer, which was fun. I was really nervous backstage before my turn to go on. Then this kid Luke says to everyone "Hey, its a packed house, so don't everyone get nervous!".  It was funny, though!

My sister is getting confirmed this Sunday! Confirmed, you may ask? Well, we belong to a Christian sect called the Lutheran Church Missouri-Synod. When kids are pre-teens to teenage in their years, they take these confirmation classes given by the pastor. These classes give a more in-depth knowledge of the scripture, Lutheranism, what it means to be a Christian, and stuff like that. And then after two years of these classes, the kids get confirmed, where they go up in front of the congregation and profess their faith and belief in Christ as the only way to salvation. There are pictures taken and each confirmand is given a banner that says when they were confirmed, their name, etc. Afterwards, we're having a family get-together at our house to celebrate my sister's confirmation. I'm looking forward to it! I was 13 when I was confirmed. :)

Alrighty, well, Mom wants me to work out in the yard with her, and its such a beautimous day!

Áu revoir!

• April 2, 2008 - Hmmm....

Hmmm...well, today's blog entries is one of those that has no redeaming value whatsoever in it, and it is probably perfectly meaningless...

...What!...Don't go!

Well, right now, I am at the library, doing a myriad of things! (Akuchi, new word: myriad) 1) Working on my yearbook pages because my comp is too slow to work on it at home, 2) blogging (tehehe!), and 3) Homework: the bane of my school existence!

I will be posting a couple poems soon, and I hope you all like them! Since I am at the library, and cannot quite recall all of the verses, it would be futile to do so now.

So, many of you know that life is freakin hard sometimes, eh? Yeah...its difficult having to be a teenager. I mean, I wanna grow outta this stage!....but then again...I don't wanna grow up! Any of you feel this way? Life is, ya know, a little scary...especially this day in age.

Oh! I hafta recomend this movie! Its called Secondhand Lions and it is awesome! I just watched it for the first time the other day, and it is amazing! I'd give it four stars.

Well, the Spring Banquet is comign up onces again! *excited!!!* I have this awesome dress my Rachel let me borrow. Its black, with a sheer-like layer over the black with little jewel-like sparklies all on it. Sadly it does not fit the dress code, so Mom is going to take it in to get it covered in the back....somehow.

I must bid you all a fond farewell! And yes, I feel sort of dramatic today!

Áu revoir!

• March 24, 2008 - Chapter Three: Is There Hope?

(Its not as long at the others, but here 'tis!)

     Thalionwen awoke to extreme light, the sound of the river, and constant chills.  Someone was stroking her hair, and her body gently rocked on the water, like a baby in a cradle.

     “Wake up, Thali.”   The person replied.  Thalionwen turned and looked at who was tending to her.  It was Vanya, sitting beside Domynik.  Vanya smiled weakly.  “You were out a long time.”

      When Thalionwen tried sitting up, she felt dizzy.  “What…what happened?”

     “We saw the Black Elves beginning their attack, and you jumped off the bridge.  I guess it’s a good thing I leaped into the boat and pulled you into it.”  Domynik said.

     “You might have drowned otherwise.”  Vanya explained, softly.  Thaliowen tried to concentrate on what her friends were saying, but it was hard, for it felt like there were constant drums pounding in her ears, and her vision was blurry.  “Don’t try to talk or do anything…we’re taking care of you.”

     “You must have swallowed a gallon of water, for whenever one drinks much water, they tend to get sick and weak.”  Domynik replied.  Thaliowen breathed deeply and closed her eyes.  She rested for quite a long time, for if she was ill, she had to get well so she could regain her strength.

                                      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
     It seemed like hours until Thaliowen woke.  She felt the ground under her back, and the warmth of a fire a few feet away.  She listened to the crickets and frogs in the grass and the harsh flow of the river.  She opened her eyes and turned her head: Domynik was laying a couple blankets on the ground, and Vanya was feeding the fire.
     Thalionwen sat up.  “So,” She began. “Fill me in…what’s happened?”  Vanya looked up at her, with a glance that was unreadable.
     “Why don’t we eat first?”  Vanya replied with a rhetorical question.  Domynik reached into his sling and pulled out three slices of deer jerky.  Thalionwen nodded and accepted the food, and, along with the others, wolfed it down.
     “Now,” she said when they finished.  “What has been going on since I was out?”  She looked from Vanya to Domynik; then she noticed that Domynik hadn’t once glanced at her: he was avoiding eye-contact.  “Please, what has happened?”
     Vanya curled up next to her friend.  “After you leapt off the bridge, Domynik jumped into the boat to pull you in.  Tod screamed at Leina and me to get in with you both…at first, I didn’t…I just couldn’t leave him, but he pushed me into the river so I could get away.”  She sighed and took  a quick breath.  “I think…Leina is gone…but Tod…I don’t know, Thali...”  Her voice cracked, tears came.  Thalionwen just sat there, shock written on her face.  “I’m a coward.”  She whispered.
     “No, Thaliowen.  You’re not a coward.”  Domynik exclaimed.  “You’re extrememly brave!”
     “Then, why did I abandon you all?  Because of me, Leina is dead and Tod might be!  I should’ve stayed on the bridge…”
     “If you had, you would have been killed, too.”  Vanya replied, looping her arm through her friend’s.  “We’re not looking as you as some dastardly fool.”
     “We’re just glad you’re alive.”  Domynik said, scooting over to his friends.
     “It would’ve been better if I had stayed…as least Tod and Leina could’ve had a chance to get away.”
     “And do you know where you would be, huh?”  Domynik exclaimed.  Thalionwen bit her lip: she had never seen Domynik like this.  He was upset, and at the same time she felt how much he cared about her.  “I’d be dead” was all she could squeak out to keep from crying.
     “No, Thali.  You’d be taken as a prisoner to Nothgaria, where those evil elves would do terrible things to you…torturous things…and after they were done, they might even give you over to the Zuroks, and what inhumane things they’d do to you then!”  He paused, and took a deep ragged breath, his face and voice softened.  “No, Thali.  They wouldn’t give you such a priviledge to have a quick, painless death as they did Leina.  They were after you, not us…we were just in the way.”
     Thalionwen sat in silence for a long time, contemplating what Domynik and Vanya had told her.  She was torn between hate, shock, sadness, and anger at herself for what had happened.  Her only family were gone, most likely never to be seen again.  At least I have Domynik and Vanya, she thought, but the pang of sorrow over Leina and Tod was near to over-powering that thought.  She felt herself slipping into a state of hopelessness.  No… she whispered to herself.  I can’t allow myself to lose hope, for hope is what will keep me alive, even if for a short time.
     Vanya saw her friend’s face, and all the emotions that streaked it.  “Thali, get some sleep.  We’ll take the watches tonight.”  Vanya smoothed Thalionwen’s hair; it reminded her of how Leina used to comfort her.
• February 23, 2008 - Chapter Two: The Flight to the River
     (if you need to, you can go back to the first chapter and scan it to refresh your memory)
     The Elders had gathered together in the Meeting House, discussing the matter amongst themselves.  The Hall was lit with many flickering candles and lamps, and a fire was crackling in the huge fireplace.  It had been long since she had been in this part of the House, and she had forgotten how warm and beautiful is was.  There were rugs and chairs and a large table in the center of the Hall, with eight men sitting around it: the Elders, with Trevar sitting off to the side.
    Thalionwen and Vanya bowed respectfully, then sat on a couch near Trevar.  They would be silent unless they were spoken to.
     “There is no time!  We must act and post guards around the walls of Tambo.  If we do not, Black Elves will be all over the place, casting spells, taking prisoners, and worse!”  One argued, passionately.
     “Do we even know if it was a Black Elf? It could’ve been a shadow!”  Another exclaimed.
     “What are the odds?  We sent out Thalionwen to find someone, she runs into some of those Black Elves and escapes, and they could be trying to attack her again.  We must not only protect her but also the entire village!”  Another Elder said.
     Being that Trevar was next to be an Elder, he could add to the discussions.  “Let’s ask Thalionwen what she said and did, and then decide what we should do.”
     “But you told us what she told you.”  An Elder replied.
     “I’d like to hear it from her own lips.  Thalionwen, step forward, please.”  An Elder replied.  For a brief moment Thalionwen did not move: it was an honor to discuss matters with the Elders, and she wondered if she were dreaming.  She walked to the table and told them all what she had seen and said to the Black Elves; she told them the location where she was, how many Elves she supposed there were, and other possibly vital facts that the Elders wanted.
     After hearing what she had said, the Elders sat quietly in thought.  There was such a long silence that Thalionwen became quite restless and shifted her weight; she turned around and looked at Vanya, who was deep in thought, as well.  Finally, the Elder who had allowed Thalionwen to talk spoke:
     “It is interesting.  I know much of the Black Elves, and they detest anyone who stands up them; they want to be the dominant beings in Arganethor.  When you told told them off, you angered them.  I think we all agree that what you did was right…we do not want them to walk all over you or anyone, but…it put us in a little bit of a situation.”
    Thalionwen lowered her head.  She felt a twinge of guilt rise in her.  The Elder continued:  “We will post guards around our walls, and send messengers to the neighboring villages and make them aware of what we might be in for.”  He paused to look at the other Elders, who all nodded in agreement.  “In the meantime, I will look further into this, and get some letters out.  Remember, Thalionwen, we are not angry with you in the least, and you have nothing to feel guilty about.  Thank you for informing us, and we are glad you are safe.”  She bowed and turned around; Vanya stood and they both walked out of the Hall.
     “I’m worried, Thali.”  Vanya whispered when they were outside.  “I’m worried that they might come for you.”
     “Don’t be, Van.  There’s no use of that.  Besides, I’m not too concerned about myself.”
     “You should be!  The Black Elves are notorious for kidnappings and killings and all that!  If I were you, I’d stay inside as much as possible.”
     “I can’t live in fear, Vanya.  I’ll take precautions, but my thoughts and concerns are of the villagers…I brought this danger upon us.”
     “Accidentally, though.”  She replied, walking her friend up to her house, where Tod and Leina were waiting, urgently.  “I’ll be praying for you, Thalionwen.”
     “Thanks.”—she hugged Vanya—“You’re a great friend.  Now that I’m here, you go get some sleep.”
     “I will.  See you in the morning.”  Tod let Thalionwen in, but stepped outside for a moment to talk to Vanya.  He then closed the door and locked it quickly.  He appeared frightened and shook up, like he had seen a ghost, and he spoke to his wife and Thalionwen with a nervous voice.
     “We have to leave.  Pack some food and a set of clothes.”  Thalionwen knew what they were going to do: they were getting out of the village; Thalionwen figured Tod must have discovered something terrible.
     “What about Domynik, Vanya, and Trevar?”  She asked as she stuffed some clothes and sentimental objects into a bag.
     “I was not able to warn Trevar, and even if I did, he would not have left with us.  As for Domynik, his family is not in Tambo, so he is coming with us; only Vanya out of her clan will be coming…her family does not believe that Black Elves have come to Tambo.”
     Fools!  Thalionwen thought.
     “We are going to the Swift River.  There is a boat waiting there that we shall cross in.”
     “Father, Elves have the power to control many substances…including water!”  Thalionwen replied.
     “Do you propose a better solution?”  The air seemed to freeze: Tod had shouted at Thalionwen for the first time.  She clamped her mouth shut and obeyed.  Thalionwen packed their things in bags and buckled them onto the saddle of their two horses, and Tod led Vanya and her horse over to them.
     “We shall walk them over to the river, then get into the boat, and I shall guide them through the water.  We will have to hurry, and be very quiet.  Are you ready?”  He asked in a whispered tone.  They all nodded, a mix of fear and worry on their faces in the dark.  “Alright then.  Vanya, Domynik and Leina will walk out first with Vanya’s horse.  Then Thalionwen and I shall guide our two.  We shall meet up at the bridge.  Now, go.”
     It was clear to Thalionwen that she was now scared out of her conscious mind, but fear would not stop her from obeying; there was a mission to accomplish, and she would not risk her parents’ nor her friends’ lives because of her petty fears…which, now occurring to her, weren’t so trifle.
     She and Tod waited for Vanya, Domynik, and Leina for a few minutes, giving them a chance to make it safely to the river without be noticed, or, even if they were noticed, there should be no unreasonable suspicion as to why they were traveling, for many travel at night.
     Finally, Thalionwen and her father walked quietly out of the barn, and stayed in shadows of the wood.  Every step they took, Thalionwen accepted it could possibly be their last, so she made every step count.  It seemed like hours for them to reach the bridge, though they were only walking for about ten minutes.
     As they walked onto the bridge, moonlight striking it with a glorious glow, Thalionwen realized they were in grave danger.
      “We must get off this bridge!”  She whispered, sharply.  As these words were uttered, she turned her head, and saw four cloaked figures coming out of the dark wood.  Their faces were hardly revealed, and they galloped their black horses fast toward the bridge.
     There was no time to think!  They had to escape.  The thought arrived in a split second.  “Jump!”  She cried, and flung herself backwards over the bridge, and into the gushing, black water.
