Here are some photos of our plants from mid-July. These lilies are going strong. I could not water them enough last year to get the same results as all the rain we've had this year. It's amazing.
Here is Ryan's (ds, 10) box. Things are growing well here too with minimal attention.
Another lily.
The Hosta I got at Walmart last year. So lovely!
Here is a view of both garden boxes.
I have decided not to replant anything in the spaces left from the lettuce. The cucumbers are going crazy and need the room to roam. See that one hanging down in front? It started in the back corner.
Does anyone know how long it take for Morning Glories to bloom? I planted them in early May. My dad says they might not be getting enough sun. That could be. Sun is hard to find in my backyard!
Everything looks so wonderful!!!! :) I know what you mean about learning as you go! That is pretty much why I went ahead and made my tiny gardens this year. This spring there was just zero time for gardening, but I figured I'd be just a little bit further along in gardening if I went ahead and did it instead of waiting until next year.
What a beautiful garden you have. I'm a little jealous. Next year we should have a little plot of land to garden in - can't wait. Your lilies are just gorgeous!
I know what you mean about getting adequate rainwater and the miracle that does! Our garden is doing great too because of that reason. I just made my first loaf of zucchini bread! And we had zucchini and yellow squash with pasta last night. Yum! Everything in your gardens look wonderful!
Our morning glories look about the same, no blooms yet. This is the first time I have grown them so it is a big experiment for us too.
Your garden boxes look great! Our day lilies are blooming all over the yard too. I have one that is especially pretty. I don't think I have caught it with the camera yet so I will have to get one and post it.
We ate green beans from the garden this week! Wahoo!
My Morning Glories have also come back from seed and are blooming on the east side of the house where they get full sun throughout the morning. But I also have them in my shade garden along with my hosta and toad lillies. The ones in the shade garden are not blooming yet and are much smaller than the ones on the front of the house. It may be a sun issue.
The lillies are gorgeous, I planted mine where they are not getting enough sun and they look puny...I'll have to move them this fall. A gardeners work is neverending :-).
Blessings, Julie
Your Hosta is nice too. I have one that is the same. I dug it up entirely I thought two years ago and it came back only to be pretty after I did - before it was struggling. Mine has the purple flowers too, but only a few. Perhaps because it is in almost complete shade.
Welcome to my happy little place to learn about the study of nature and all things beautiful. This is my personal nature journal, where I hope to record my fledgling journey as a naturalist and my appreciation for the Master Gardener's creation. I will also display some of my favorite paintings and list some of my favorite living books and quotes. I hope you will enjoy your visit.
