Learning fractions with Chocolate bars

Posted in Math

You will need:

1 hershey bar

Fractions and Chocolate Bars

When introducing the concept of fractions, use one chocolate bar. Offer 1/2 of the bar to your child. Then have your child offer 1/4 of his/her piece to a sibling. Then ask "What fraction of the original chocolate bar did (sibling) get?" Soon your child can learn halves, fourths, eighths, etc. (Plus you get to eat chocolate.)

ROFL! No chocolate math around mom! NO, NO, NO! Because soon you will have NO fractions and ZERO chocolate bar!

Actually Hershey (You notice it says HER and SHE in that name? As in MINE!) bars are great for dividing into little fractions to nibble on. Lovely idea.

Pam, My computer burped as it often does and dh reloaded my Juno but I lost more recently added e mails and one is yours. I have some things to share for Homeschool Helper but need your e mail.
