Ideas to Make a Travel Notebook (for your vacations)

Posted in Notebooking
Are you going to be traveling through several states this summer? Need some ideas to entertain the kids? Want to do something educational? Then make a vacation notebook!

First, stop at the Welcome Centers along the state lines and find a huge amount of free brochures of interesting places to visit in the state . Be sure to get as many as you can! You can cut out the pictures of interesting places for each state and glue them on a state map to make a collage.
You could also use your state map for a journal. Write things such as the dates you were in the state, places you visited, where you ate, etc.

Use your map to keep track of your trip. Pencil in cities that you visited and connect your dots to show your route through the state.

You could also use your map to glue on the state's symbols. Try to find unusual symbols such as state insect, state amphibian, etc. to go along with the usual tree, flower, and bird.

Use your map to write info on each state such as governor, capital, population, number of counties, etc.

Find state symbols on the internet before you go (try www.enchantedlearning.com) and have the kids color them as you pass through the state. (This only works if they like to color!)

And remember, ask locals for recommendations of free or low cost places to visit. Most people are more than willing to help if you ask. We have found some of our most interesting places to visit this way
