Secret Sister - Thank You

Posted in Secret Sisters

I have to say that taking part of the Secret Sister program through TRAINING HEARTS was more than a blessing to me this summer. It has definatly strengthened my belief in the fact that God answers our prayers. There were so many times this summer where life could have sent my world into a tailspin - but instead, something positive came from all of our trials!! There were also many times where I felt worry and negative whispers start to get the best of me, but my heart would lighten and my vision was made clear through the Lord and with the help of prayer.

In the early summer I went on vacation and got a very bad steam burn (my fingers were almost purple from the burn and blistered) on our first morning there. With prayer though, the Lord healed my fingers almost overnight - still blistered, but there was no pain anymore by the next morning. This was truely a miracle!!

Seth's job hunting was also a trial that we faced through the summer.... ALL SUMMER! BUT, I believe that with the help of my Secret Sister's prayers, and the prayers of others along the way, Seth received the job that he most desired.

I also faced a lot of depression throughout the summer that I tried to keep inside, out of view from everyone else. Whispers from evil things never do good to one's heart... but through prayer - I have experienced less depression over the last couple of weeks. This is very interesting because earlier in the month I had received a card from my Secret Sister, Bobbie, who had said that she was worried that I hadn't posted in a while. She just seemed to know that my soul was getting bogged down, and said that she had been praying for this to be lifted. These of course are not the exact words, but she KNEW that I was down.... and had been praying for my heart..... I thank you so much for that Bobbie, because NO ONE else knew about this... but God put it in your heart to pray, and I have been able to focus on God, more than the worry, over the past couple of weeks!

So many times I could have falled on the floor and given up this summer, but my heart was lifted and I was able to refocus on The One that can do all things. I thank you, Secret Sister Bobbie, for the prayer that you offered through my journey. You are etched into the story of my life and will forever have a place in my heart.

It is very late here - but I have a very restless heart... I have come to realize that I have not said "Thank you" to my Secret Sister, Bobbie for her wonderful cards and gifts through the month of September. I know that, no matter how busy things get, saying Thank You should never be something left out!! I'm so sorry my wonderful Secret Sister - I hope you can fogive and forget my laziness over the past month. I will visit your blog tomorrow and post all of the wonderful pix of cards and such on my website when I get home from work. Back from Blogging Vacation

Posted in Life Happens

It certainly has been too long since I have checked in here… Life has been coming at us fast, and changing our routine proved harder than expected. BUT things are settling down now and beginning to come to a sense of normalcy! Now, although we have been busy with changes - some wonderful blessings have been presented in our lives, so although we were busy, great things were occurring!!

After a summer of schooling part-time, we are kicking things into high gear school-wise. This school year I had planned on creating our curriculum for our dd to follow, using a montage of different resources - but after hours of attempting to get things together and frustration when things weren’t working together as I had planned - I have decided to go back to SL. It will give us a skeleton structure that we can build off of, instead of me trying to build a structure and add meat to. We will be adding Grade 3 readers and doing SL 1+2 (for the review of 1 and the continuation into Core 2’s information). We are also continuing with our RS English, Spanish, HWT, MUS, Bible Study Guide for All Ages, and Sequential Spelling. I’m sure I’m leaving something off of the list, but this is all I can think of right now.

We are also partaking in three different homeschooling groups and one Co-Op! Already this has proven to be a blessing to dd and myself! I haven’t had much fellowship with other homeschooling mommies… and dd hasn’t had any other hsing friends. She has friends from church, the two dance classes that she took place in, and WOW (church program) - but no other kids that were educated at home like herself. We have been to one function and already we both feel welcome and excited about the next meeting!

So this is what we have been up to… well, something of what we have been up to… actually this is very little of what we have been up too!!! LOL! BUT this is what we are up to NOW and are looking forward to be doing. I’m not sure people - other than my beloved friends and secret sister - actually check in here, but I am back and will try to hit the entries a lot more often than in the last month.

Hugs to everyone!!

I was Tagged!!

Posted in Life Happens

I just got tagged by Kristie at Pretzel Family!! First please go over to her blog and read her posts to the questions! She has a great blog, so sit with a cup of something good and enjoy it for a little while. Then don't forget to come back here and read my answers. Afterward, refill your cup of something good and check out the people's blogs that I have tagged!

HUGS!

1.  What is your favorite bible verse?
Well, depends on my mood I suppose. Normally, when my anxiety works it's way up, I turn to Matthew 6:34 "So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today". Another is Ephesians 6:11 "Put on all of God's armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies and tricks of the Devil". And - the first verse Seth showed me in the Bible before I was a believer - Corinthians 13:4-7 "Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance".

2.  What season of the year is your favorite?  Why?
I LOVE autumn! More than many of God's gifts to me on this earth, I love fall. There are so many reasons why I love this season... I'll try to make it short. I have so many memories of my family during the fall. My father used to take me and my two brothers out on what he called "fall rides" through the country to look at the leaves and listen to "Classic Rock" or "Oldies" whatever the genre is referred to now. The fall also reminds me of the awaiting of a new school year - I never liked the schoolwork, but going back was fun for the friends school provided . Football season, "sweatshirt weather", and fresh air are all other reasons I love the Fall.

3.  Do you think homeschooling will continue to grow?
I really hope it does!

4.  List 4 people that have most influence your life.
Whoa... hmmm. Well Jesus would be the obvious answer. I just couldn't pick 4 people that have MOST influenced my life - but I will share 1 that has - even though there are more. My grandmother (paternal) was stricken with throat and mouth cancer. Altough she had several operations and therapies, she kept her sense of humor until the very end of her battle. In fact, a few years before she died, she had her vocal chords removed and had to write instead of speak. She had a very dry humor and would still work it into a conversation perfectly without a beat. If she was down, she would NEVER show it to us... I miss her so much. Oh the tears, I knew this would happen!

5.  What is your favorite non-biblical quote?
Will Turner: This is either madness... or brilliance.
Jack Sparrow: It's remarkable how often those two traits coincide.

6.  Silk, satin, or cotton?
I'm all about cotton!

7. If you like chocolate, what is your favorite?
I really am not a chocolate "lover", but I do occassionally like Dove Dark Chocolate.

8.  If you could sit at dinner with 5 people, who would they be?
Um. My Grandmother (paternal), my Mom-Mom (maternal grandmother) and my Grandaddy Paul (maternal grandfather), my very much missed Uncle John (father's brother), and as silly as it seems, my cousin Krys who is my Uncle John's daughter so she could see him again.

9.  What is your favorite author?
I have three: Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, and Sophie Kinsella. LOL, I know that there's a big genre difference in Hemingway and Steinbeck and Sophie Kinsella, but I enjoy a variety of writers.

10.  Who will you tag?
House Full of Joy, Orginized Chaos, Homeschooling Anyway, Homeschooling While on My Knees, and Joy in the Journey Academy
