Tuesday's Tidbits...

Posted in HomeSchool Happenings

Today I spent some time filling in some blanks in my

homeschool journal/learning log.

I confess that I am not the best at 'keeping records'.

I so much enjoy the beauty of being relaxed in our education

that I tend to forget to regularly document what we've done.

But I have caught us up to the present

and hope to be more diligent at documenting in the future.

We also spent a bit more time today in learning.

Will and I read a couple more chapters of "Stories of the Pilgrims"...

We also read a chapter in our Burgess Bird Book for Children

and he worked in his math a bit.

The lil' girls sat at the table listening and coloring as I read...

And Ally spent time working on Chemistry....

She also worked in her Starting Points, Greek, and Writing.

We also started reading Shakespeare's "King John" today.

We read aloud through Act 1.

We also took some time to eat

some of the cake that Ally made yesterday...

Afterwards, we all sat on the couch

to read a chapter of "Teddy's Button".

Later in the afternoon, Will and I worked on a woodworking project...

He is making a wooden jeep. We hope to finish it tomorrow.

As we worked on the wooden jeep,

Beth colored some more

and Carolynne helped herself to some grapes...

Meanwhile, Ally filled our home with music...

It was a pretty productive day.

I experienced a little mental exhaustion and dry mouth

from all the reading aloud,

but it's nothing a couple glasses of water and some rest won't fix.

It was a very enjoyable day.

And I cherish the moments that I can look back on today

that I was able to spend in quality time with my children.

I've been neglecting my favorite blog!! How could that be? ;0) I miss commenting on here. I have to get my act together. I read and visit every day, but don't get a chance to comment. ;0( I can't wait for my boys to get a little older. I think being able to work with wood is one of the coolest things. I would love for them to really learn and get into it. My beloved has no idea how to do it, so I guess he will be learning with them together. You made me laugh with the whole dry mouth while reading. That doesn't happen to me, BUT I get extremely sleepy. I can go about 10 minutes before I start yawning and slouching little by little. I think I need to switch our schedule a little and do our hour of reading in the morning. I really am at a loss as far as how to read without wanting to crawl into my bed. Thanks for sharing all of the pictures. I do so enjoy looking at them. It makes me feel like I am there with you. ;0)

Sorry, this comment has nothing to do with your post, but I didn't know where else to post it. On Saturday night I was checking on your blog, and after I was done, I left it on so that I can hear the song. ;0) My beloved then hoped on the computer for something, and he minimized your blog, so the song was still playing. The song played about 6 times, and I was wondering why he hadn't muted it or something, as he normally doesn't like music when he hops on. By the time he was done checking, he was singing the words. Of course I started laughing and making fun of him. Then he started changing the words around to make me laugh more. But I just wanted to let you know we both enjoyed the song. ;0)

to me. Where did you find Will's jeep? That would be a great project for my Harrison. He's always needing to find something for his busy little hands. LOL Tell Ally I like her kerchief. And the I know what you mean about the dry mouth from reading aloud. Been there, done that, Sister!

Found more things we have in common (LOL)... we have the same white board (got mine at Walmart and it took up the whole shopping cart)... only I still don't have mine hanging on the wall. It is propped up against the wall instead.

We also have Stories of the Pilgrims. We did Beautiful Feet Early American History two years ago and will do it again when the little ones are a bit older.
