Memphis, Here We Come!!

My husband and I will celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary this Saturday, April 19th.  I can't wait for the weekend to get here!  We always try to do something special for our anniversary--some years we just have a special dinner, some years we go to a movie, some years we take a trip.  This year, we get to take a trip--just the two of us.  We are going to Memphis for the weekend.  Neither one of us have ever been there, so we thought we'd check it out.  It's only about 3 hours away from where we live, so it's fairly easy driving distance.  While we probably won't be visiting Graceland, we still want to see the sights and enjoy the sounds of the city.  We are planning to tour Sun Studios and the Rock and Soul Museum (which is run by the Smithsonian Institute).  We are both BIG music buffs and I am something of a history buff, so we thought those two attractions would be good to see.  Otherwise, we plan to take advantage of the walking trails along the Mississippi River and through historic sections of the city (a friend told us about the trails--hopefully he's correct about them), and we plan to just enjoy spending time together alone!  Yeah!

Happy Anniversary. I hope you have a wonderful trip to Memphis. It has been several years since I have been there, but my husband and I enjoyed ourselves when we went.

It sounds great that you are getting away together! How necessary! My husband and I have too easily let our marriage fall into second place. I hate to admit it but sometimes it hasn't gotten a place at all! About a month we ago we resolved to change that. We can't afford babysitting so it makes it more complicated but we have managed to go out together one evening a week for the past 3 weeks and again this week! I suppose God is honoring our commitment to improve our marriage! He's helping us make a way.

Thanks for your comment on my blog. No doubt that being overwhelmed will cause us to not be good listeners. Your mother would be right. But you and I also realize that we can be poor listeners even on a slow, lazy day! With God's help we can do it!
