Five Days till Christmas
How many of you have little ones counting down the days? I have one, but this has done little to make me realize how close to Christmas we are! I have yet to mail out my gifts going to relatives not near me! YIKES. Oh and our Christmas cards will be more like New Year cards... oops! December flew by.
This is an odd year for my family. My parents are leaving to spend an unholiday like vacation in another state. My baby sister is leaving the state also. And my other sister is out of the country enjoying hot sunny weather. Last year we had my whole family to include my grandparents. It was a two day celebration with the incredible snow and EVERYONE. Kids everywhere! Family and Karoke and food and FUN!!! Quite a time!
After my grandparents died so unexpectedly and quickly, my family lost interest in jovial celebrations. I realize that this is only temporary. The first Christmas without them will be different and sad. My parents are staying in a B&B getting to know some of my grandma's distant relatives in another state. My baby sister lost her father-in-law this year, just before Thanksgiving. She and her husband are going to hang out with his family in another state. My other sister is in a third world country with her family. The country is on the brink of civil war. However, it can wait until after the holidays because the people are spending money. And I just want to stay home with my husband and children, but my daughter will be with other family. An odd Christmas.
Even though this Christmas will be different, I have the comfort of knowing how the Lord has been with my family and the blessings He has given us. I realize the importance of a godly heritage in my grandparents. Not one thing could compare to that. My mom reminded me of the prayers my grandparents prayed on behalf of their children and their children's children and their great-grandchildren. They saw the need for Christ in the generations. And in 65+ years of a marriage, their prayers influence children yet unborn. What an awesome present to give my children; the godly heritage found in the lives and prayers of their great-grandparents and the knowledge that even in adversity, the Lord is with us.
May the Lord bless my dear readers with a wonderful and Merry Christmas. May the memories be pleasant and lasting. And families close! Above all, may you all remember Him, whose life is given for us.

What Is Shepherd's Fold?
Our School's Motto is: Fidelis, Virtus, Continentia
Our School's Motto means: Faith, Virtue, Self-Control
We chose Shepherd's Fold as the name of our school to reflect Jesus, our Shepherd, leading and directing our learning and our lives. The Lord created us to be multi-dimensional. Each part of us needs His guidance. As He cares, directs, and protects for every aspect of our lives, then we, with His help, care for, direct, and protect our children.
The Good Shepherd Art Piece
African Gospel Art has several pieces. This one about the Good Shepherd really connected with me. The kind owner of the site is allowing me to use it in my blog. Please visit the art work; it really is delightful.
