Feb. 5, 2006 - "it's not a widowmaker"
those were dh's cardiologist's words when he finished the cardiac cath last week. dh has occlusions in the 3 major coronary arteries, but they were all <70% blocked, which is the standard for putting in stents or a balloon. A small vessel coming around the back of the heart is 99% occluded, but they didn't feel it was worth the risk to stent it --- they felt that they may inadvertantly push the clot further into his heart. they said that with good overall heart function, when (not if, mind you) dh has a heart attack from that vessel, it will affect a small enough area of the heart that it won't be a widowmaker. i sat there dumbfounded at his words, but as a nurse, knew exactly what he meant. after all, i've used those words before. i've used all kinds of phrases that were, well, inconsiderate and impersonal.
anywyay, dh is home, all is well, and he is now on more meds that anyone his age should ever be. but God is good. He is in control. He has dh's days written down, and nothing can change that.
i do realize that i love my dh more than i thought. the remote idea that i could lose him shook me to my core. i am so lucky. so incredibly blessed.
go kiss up on you husbands, ladies. we don't have them forever.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I will be praying for you and your dh today. I had the wonderful privelege of working at Weimar Institute in California from 2002 - 2004 and it was an awesome experience. It is a Christian institute that caters for people from all walks of life and teach a natural, healthy lifestyle that will turn most disease around. I have first hand seen people with severe heart disease make life-changing improvements in just 18 days on the program. It is not difficult, it just requires a commitment to follow this healthy living program. I am aware of many similar programs across the USA. In what state and town do you live? Althought I live in South Africa now, perhaps I could put you in touch with someone and you could look into this. Do send me an email if you are interested.

I'll be praying for you and your husband. My husband was never that ill, but he did serve a year in Iraq. So, I know the fear that can grip you when you think about losing them. I'll be giving my husband a big ol' kiss and a hug tonight and thanking God that I have him.
You're right, God is awesome and He's in control.

I'm sorry that your doctor was so insensitive! Thank you for the reminder. It's so easy to focus on the negatives and forget that we vowed to "love, honor and cherish".
Praying for his continued recovery...
Feb. 10, 2006 - Praying with you

I linked to your blog when I saw your user name. After the Lord, my first thought every morning is "Coffeeeeeeee." I was so sobered and convicted by your thoughts. I think i often take my DH for granted and he is a gift from the Lord. I am believing with you for the Lord to use this to His glory and to bring healing to your husband and the tangible sense of God's presence to your family.
In Him,
Michele

Mar. 4, 2006 - EMERGENCY PRAYER REQUEST FOR CANDACE!
Posted by DandelionSeeds
Cathy, Candace's mom, has sent out another EMERGENCY Prayer Request for Candace. (She also posted one in the middle of the night that Janne informed some of us of, as things are not going well). Please keep this little girl in fervent prayer.
Please remember the family of Missey who are having her funeral this morning. I will be having a post honoring Missey through "A Mother's T.R.E.K." and will keep you posted on that as well.
In Him,
Amy

Mar. 7, 2006 - I was so touched reading your weblog
that I put you on my friends list so that I won't forget where you are. I could really identify with you in so many areas. I'm new at blogging, but quickly becoming an addict! I always thought that meeting people online must be so superficial, your candidness shines through. Thank you for your willingness to share your life and faith in such a meaningful way. Please visit my blog :)

Interesting way to put it, but great news!!
My Dad has had 2 heart attacks (both young), his last one was when I was about 4 years old (and that was 25 years ago, and counting)....my MIL also has heart disease (she is here, but not doing great by any means)....needless to say, even though I am not a nurse, I have seen how it affects the entire family. Will be praying for him, and for you all. Like you said, makes you draw closer when you know how close losing them can be. Continue to draw closer and lean on each other.
Just random blogging, and came your way.

I am sending out a "mass apology" to everyone I told about "The Clean Heart, Clean Home Challenge". I have received some comments in regard to leaving the button on people's blogs and I feel the best way to make sure there aren't others who are offended, is to apologize to those I sent the notice to.
I feel just horrible that some thought I was "advertising" in some way when my intention was to share with other homeschoolers what I was offering as encouragement and a way for us to join together.
If you are one who was upset by my post, please feel free to delete it and email me or leave a comment on my page and I will personally apologize. To those who have joined in The Challenge, I'm so looking forward to what the Lord has in store for us and hope we will all be able to bless our families and grow in the Lord through it! Thank you most importantly for seeing my heart. I never meant to disregard anyone's post when I left the comment about the Challenge, and want you all to know that anything you ever have to say to me, whether on topic or not, is more than welcome on my blog. I will also be making a new category on my blog that will list those of you who don't mind getting urgent prayer requests or information from time to time. I hope this way I will be able to avoid upsetting anyone similarly in the future.
Thanks for allowing me to comment on your blog. I hope you will accept my apology (and not be upset that I'm "off topic" from your post, but I have many people to get to still tonight).
In Him,
Amy Verlennich
