Jul. 6, 2008 - Aren't they cute?!
On the way home from church today we received permission to pick up our chickens! We have wanted chickens all season, but we did not think we would actually be able to get them until next year.
This was the very first presentation of the chickens....... Boy was he surprised!

Then we called the other two from outside and this was their reaction:

This was an absolute hoot! I think the key was to keep us waiting Daddy
The younger two were taking a nap while all this action was happening. They may have woke up a little groggy and possibly a little moody (shh don't tell the little one I said so), but as soon as they saw that pen filled with chicks they LIT up! Little one:

Little two:

I can't imagine not having children! I can't believe at one point we only wanted one or two at the most! It's not those chickies who are adorable..... it's those blessings from God that melt me!
To all you seasoned foul keepers out there - do they light up like this with each new addition? If so, I can see why they might add up quickly....... How many do you have now Misti? 200?

Oh, have we lost count! I have 48 eggs hatching RIGHT NOW in my living room. (we are incubating for the Hingles this batch though) We have 20 in the garage, 20 in the hoop house and God only knows how many that run around during the day. It still excites me to see a new chick hatch! Yours aren't "new" though..they look a few weeks old..what kind are they? Very cute!

Hey Misti. Jo says to tell you to see 'her' chick on her blog, show Hosanna. Two are Ameraucana and the other two are Barred Rock. We would like to get two RR Spring next year though. Do the children enter any in the fair? I was searching for info and couldn't find any. I'm sure there are some technicalities to all of that, do you know of anywhere I could find info on that? If anyone knows....you will >grin.
BTW, How many (total) have you hatched this year?
e:O)
