I'm In LOVE! (with lap books)
Posted in Lapbooks
Okay, I had heard of lap books
before, but I really didn't know what they were and I for some reason
never checked into them....Well today I was innocently surfing blogs
and came across my blog friend
Redmom's post on lap books. That's it I'm hooked!!
Oh, the possibilities that are dancing in my head! I have no idea
what the "right" way to make these is, but I have a lot of ideas of my
own. (Huh, I wonder if I can incorporate felt?) I have done
a little bit of looking online at ideas and I joined a Yahoo group for
lap books. (I am beginning to think there is a Yahoo group for
everything!LOL) Anyway, be prepared to be hearing more out this
in the future on my blog. Meanwhile, please leave any and all
information you have on lap books in my comments.
(Can you tell I am a bit of an obsessive personality! LOL)
Meanwhile, what I have done with my kids is Scrapbooking...
My daughter and I made a ABC's Scrapbook togther. We did a craft
for each letter of the alphabet and then we put each craft on
scrapbooking paper and put them in an album. It was fun to make
and is even more fun to get out and read together. Here are a few
of our pages.
A is for Apple Stamping
O is for Octopus
S is for Sewing Cards
Here's a list of all our pages:
A - Apple Stamping
B - Building (Made from paper)
C - Crown
D - Dog Puppet
E - Elephant (Made from and old CD and paper)
F - Flower
G - Gingerbread Man
H - House bookmark
I - Inchworm & Ice Cube Painting
J - Jingle Bell Necklace
K - Kitten
L - Lady Bugs
M - Mittens
N - Name Art
O - Octopus
P - Painting
Q - Quilt Collage
R - Rainbow
S - Sewing Card
T - Tie Dye! (Yes we tie dyed t-shirts! I included pictures in our album.)
U - Umbrella
V - Vegtable Painting
W - Weaving
X - Marks the Spot! (Pirate X mark on treasure map.)
Y - Yellow Collage
Z - Ziploc book
Now, off to start our 1st lap book!

I love the idea of lapbooks too.... I haven't bought anything from here yet, but their pictures that come across the top of their homepage were what originally helped me wrap my brain around what a lapbook was..... http://www.handsofachild.com/2/
I'm sure you can use felt..... just put a big piece on the backside of the lapbook and have a pocket with pieces to use on it just like a bigger felt board...

Hi just hopped over to look at your blog from the lapbook list. I've not done that many lapbooks but have just bought two books about lapbooking so I'm itching to get going with one this week with my daughter. We are doing Sonlight Pre K at the moment and I think we will do a lapbook around one of the stories or perhaps the Berenstain bears science book which dd loves at the moment or one on various aspects of time would be interesting. Lots of people have done lapbooks on various sonlight stuff as the literature-rich nature of Sonlight fits so well for children to 'narrate' their knowledge in various ways through lapbooking. Happy Sonlight and lapbooking.

That is so great for my hands on tactile 4 yo. I really need to do this with her. I love the stomps too. Do you play games with it, like stopm on the letter P? Again, something my 4yo would love.
