• Thursday, April 12, 2007 - Quotes that are quotable

Posted By Joe McLean in Cool Stuff

I'm looking for some good thought provoking meaningful quotes. If you have a favorite quote(s) you want to share, post them here. Here's a few good ones I like:

God doesn’t ask us to give till it hurts; he simply asks us to give it all. -- Bill Milliken
Try to make what will be important to me five minutes after I die important to me now. - Unknown

• Sunday, April 8, 2007 - He's Risen!

Posted By Joe McLean in Life

I was going to write a long post about Resurrection Sunday but I was really busy today.
I suggest you read Luke 22:54 through Luke 24; the true Easter story.

I compiled a few songs into a play list I thought were appropriate. I wanted to add a few more songs but I just haven't had the time. Enjoy!

• Thursday, April 5, 2007 - Forums

Posted By Joe McLean in Web Life
I am a part of a few forums, but two I really hang out at. They both are Christian forums, and the people on both of them are great.

Christian Web Masters - For the web and cyber-ministry

This is a large community (1283 registered members) of fellow Christian webmasters, graphic artists, web designers, and programmers. If you need help on a simple HTML question, they'll answer it and not make you sound like an idiot, because we all asked those same questions when we started out.

Most of the people that hang out there are young, but there is some older folks there too.

Here's a few sub forums there:
PHP / MySQL, PERL / ASP / JSP / .NET / ColdFusion
HTML / CSS / Javascript / DOM, Flash / Actionscript
Server Configuration
Web and Graphic Design
Website Critiques

Moving Truth - Honoring God in the arts

Moving Truth is a online community for photographers and videographers. They have articles and forums, and discuss anything related to those two subjects. You can show off your photos and have them critiqued or just learn techniques.

Moving Truth Forums is small with about four people active (including myself), but we check the forums often and you won't be left alone.

• Sunday, April 1, 2007 - No more internet

Posted By Joe McLean in Life
Today my parents decided to quit getting internet (it costs too much and it isn't healthy) so I won't be on anymore. No IM's, no emails, no nothing. We will sell our computers as well and use the money to buy ice cream. We will all have to go back to snail mail if any of you want to keep in contact. Please email me if you want our mailing address or phone number.

So long, friends!

• Saturday, March 31, 2007 - Amish Cinnamon Bread

Posted By Joe McLean in Recipies
A friend of ours gave my sisters some  Amish Cinnamon bread (Friendship bread) starter and a recipe. That bread is so delicious! It is sweet, but not too sweet. It works great for breakfast or dessert. I love it for any time of day since it's my new found favorite  bread.

Important Preparation Tips:
1) Do not use metal spoon or bowl for mix
2) Do not refrigerate
3) If air gets in the bag, let it out
4) It is normal for batter to thicken, bubble and ferment

Starter:

1 package active dry yeast
1 cup milk
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar

Dissolve yeast in small amount of warm water. Mix all ingredients together in ample size bowl or jar (it will grow)  This is day 1 of the recipe , then the next day go to day 2 and  so on.

DAY 2    Squeeze bag several times.
DAY 3    Squeeze bag several times.
DAY 4    Squeeze bag several times.
DAY 5    Squeeze bag several times.
DAY 6    Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup of milk.  Squeeze bag several times.
DAY 7    Squeeze bag several times.
DAY 8    Squeeze bag several times.
DAY 9    Squeeze bag several times.
DAY 10 In a large non-metal bowl combine batter wit 1 cup flour, 1 gup sugar, and 1 cup
milk with wooden or non-metal spoon.
Poor four 1/2 cup starters into separate gallon ziplock bags and mark each bag with Day 1. You can give them to your friends with a slice of bread and these instructions (or what we do is just eat all four).

To the remaining batter for the bowl:
1 cup oil
1 cup sugar
1tsp. Vanilla
3 large eggs
1/2 tsp. Baking powder
1/2 tsp. Soda
2 cup flour
1/4 cup milk
1 large box of instant vanilla pudding
2 tsp. Cinnamon

In a separate bowl mix 1 tsp Cinnamon and 3 Tbls sugar. Sprinkle into 2 well greased bread pans or 6 small loaf pans before pouring in batter.

Bake at 325º for 50-60 minutes.

This recipe is so delicious! The crust is even good!

• Friday, March 23, 2007 - Dad

Posted By Joe McLean in Life

Today is my Dad's 42nd birthday! My Dad is the best (and only) dad I've ever had! He's can be funny, and serious. We go to him for wisdom, and he goes to us to chastise. He's a hard worker. He works grueling hours at a place he hates to work so we can have clothes, food on the table, electricity and everything else we don't deserve. He a very Godly man. He doesn't hesitate to bring out his Bible and teach us.

I know as much as he wants to die, we don't want him to. I love you, Dad! Happy Birthday!
