Starting on a sad note
This is not typically the way to start a blog, but it is our life at this moment. We have had lots of saddness due to death. In August my cousin died of breast cancer leaving 2 small children, my Auntie Jean died of pancreatic cancer diagnosed 11 months earlier. We lost family members from our congregation and then two weeks ago we lost two young girls from two families that we have walked in life with for 25 years. It has been horrendous to watch my good friend Kari suffer in pain from a needless death of her daughter. She and her husband are so brave as they are taking a stand against underage drinking in our community. We are a small closed community and this will not be an easy road, but it is time that this issue be brought out of the closet in our community of denial.
On a lighter note-- Yesterday my man, Rick, and I were able to get away and spend the day togther. We were attending the wedding of our former hired man, Andy. It was a sweet wedding done in a turn of the century wedding chapel overlooking farmlands and the bay of Green Bay. The country preacher did a wonderful job of speaking godly truth into the ceremony. As a musician I rarely get to attend a wedding without playing or singing etc.. It was fun to cuddle up with my hubby in the back pew and just take it in and really think about what the preacher was saying. Rick and I just celebrated 25 years and so wedding vows and promises kept through thick and thin, for better or worse, mean so much to me. Between the wedding and reception we went to Green Bay and returned some items I had bought. Rick was so sweet and patient as he waited in the car at each stop while I did the returns. We then headed to the reception which was way out in Belgian farming country. I loved the drive as every hill brought new farms to look at and my "county-girl's" heart was blessed. As we left the reception the sunset was hot pink to the west and a huge full moon was rising on the east. It was a beautiful drive home as we held hands and talked for the hour and a half drive.
Arrived home to growns ( oh well) the we were home to early as the party was just starting with friends! Rick, who was tired headed to relax in out room, and I sat and talked with the different teens and laughed at their stories. What a good bunch of teens!
