What a beautiful day God gave us today. We headed to church today in separate vehicles as I had to photo copy some music for the worship team. I thought the service went ok, but not as well as I had hoped. I had woven hymns and contemporary songs together and the mix was good, but, we are an emotionaly weary church. I made brats, ( true Wisconsin food! ) and homemade salsa and chips for lunch. Rick was called to help some people and so we did not see him most of the afternoon, bummer! After lunch we brought some games over to a rental. My husband and I manage rental homes for vacationers here in Door County. It has been a blessing to our family as it brings in added income for our family and the girls and I all work together. It also keeps us in control of our time and not working for others. It is a small business with the potential for lots of growth when the time is right, and that is NOT at this time in or lives :) The girls and I went to visit our friends Kari and Dave who just lost their daughter and we had a sweet time of fellowship together. The girls jumped on the trampoline with their children and played with new kittens. We arrived home and the younger girls went out to play in their forts. I sat down in the living room with my Farm and Ranch magazine and thought I would enjoy some peace and quiet while I read. That lasted about 10 minutes!!! Then Kristi and a friend came in and wanted to chat, ok, I did try and keep reading my magazine, but ended up visiting with them instead. We headed out to church at 6:00. I have been fighting a cold for 10 days and my throat was so sore. I prayed as I went that God would make it all work out for leading worship. Kristi had bumped her jaw while playing on the trampoline and could not help me sing. When I sat down at the piano, our youngest, Melody, said that she would like to help me lead worship that night. I told her that would be fine. We are in a very family friendly church, and Sunday night is especially a family time together. So, when we started the service I sat at the piano to lead and Melody came and stood right behind me to my right so she could read the music over my shoulder. It was so precious. Another girl came up from the congregation and helped as well. We did not have a large group attending at all, but it was the sweetest worship and I know God was blessed. One of the brothers of the girl who just died requested that we sing Blessed Be Your Name, which we sang at his sister's funeral. It was so precious to join our hearts and singing that wonderful song. We ended the worship time with God of Wonders and my heart was so touched as I watched some of our teens and young adults praising their God unashamed. God blessed Melody's willingness to help her Mother and I never coughed the whole time! The youth group wanted to come over after church, but I did not feel up to it with my throat feeling icky. And so I was suspicious after church when 4 boys from the youth group dissappeared quickly as we were all leaving church. As we pulled in the driveway I knew immediately where they had gone. We got TP'd! I could not believe it. It was only one of our large trees so that is not to bad. Life is a hoot when you work with teenagers. So much to praise the Lord for, He is so good and worthy of our unending praise and adoration. Blessed be His name. |
