Mighty Winds and sweet fellowship
I am going to play a little catch-up here for the last few days.  I will start by saying that it has been blowing for 2 solid days.  This greatly affects fishing, and not in a good way.  October is an important month in fishing as it is the start of the fish coming in to spawn.  This is the time when we can catch the most fish and hopefully get ahead a little.  We have had only one good lift, so it is not looking good for the season.  Rick and I are praying for a certain amount of fish to be caught in the next 2 weeks as the nets have to be shut down and pulled on the 25th of the month.  Comercial fishing is exciting at times and this is one of those times.   Yesterday Rick went out with another crew mid-morning into the 6-7 foot waves as the other head fisherman needed fish.  They pounded there way down to the traps which are about 20 miles south on the Lake Michigan side, and then they caught only 8 fish!  Pretty crazy~

Wednesday-  We had a big group of teens at Youth Bible Study.  I am still fighting a very hoarse throat and so I asked the worship team to lead, putting Robby, our drummer, as lead singer and one of our guitar players, Andy, on the drums.  How many country churches can boast of a youth band so flexible as that????   We are so blessed by God in this area, and it is for His glory that we praise Him.  It was beautiful to hear these teens praying and asking God to move in our local school.  Our youth group is about half and half homeschooled teens to public schooled teens and we desire to support these teens with prayer.
Thursday--  Woke up to more wind in the morning.  Rick waited for a while before heading out with the guys to the shed to decide what to do.  We did a light day of school because we were needing to get the house cleaned for a dinner and Bible study we were having later on.  The girls worked so hard and did a great job.  I made a list and then we just checked things off as we got them done.  We were planning for 20 people for dinner and so I borrowed a folding table and chairs from our neighbor.  I need to get one of these for ourselves, it is so slick and seats 8 people!   We had some flowers and candles for the tables and I used my gold/brown/orange colored table-cloths as they look like fall.
It is just so enjoyable to have a house clean!  I was so delighted with how the house looked with the candles all lit.  Some of the folks who came last night have never been to our home so it was fun to show them the house and our bedroom with it's "new" bedroom set, a purchase from a friend who was aware we needed a new set and found this at a garage sale.    Our older one was 25 years old and cheap to begin with, and this one is beautiful and elegant.
We ate our potluck meal together consisting of whitefish from my husband, and swedish meatballs that I made.  Everything else was brought by others and it was a spread.  After the main part of the meal, our daughters served everyone coffee or tea with their dessert.  A friend had brought a cherry dessert especially for Rick and he walked around telling everyone it was not very good and that they should not eat it!   It was very good!   Our girls served and helped in every way, I am so thankful for such sweet helpers.
The Bible study is about prayer and last night we talked about the form of praying using the acronym ACTS, familiar to most.  We then discussed the "mountains' that we come against in our prayer life.  It was precious to hear some of our older saints share how God has moved in their prayer lives and what He has taught them.  Our precious "silver-saints" have so much wisdom to offer, as the Bible tells us in Proverbs.
Almost had a completely un-eventful night, when at 10:15 our daughter Mandy burst in the sliding glass door and came in our room to tell us we were being T-Pd AGAIN, but a girl had lost her car keys in our yard and they needed to turn our suburban around and use the headlights to try and find them.  They obviously were out for fun more then TPing as you CAN'T TP very well in 40 m.p.h. winds!   There is little to show for their effort this morning, and I hope the neighbors don't mind some white on their yards as well!

Good to hear from you too! It sounds like we do have a lot in common. My Rick isn't a fisherman, though - but he used to be in the Navy. Does that count? :)

We did find a church in Madison. It's a Calvary Chapel. I don't know if you are familiar with that fellowship. It's similar to Assemblies of God, but not quite so...traditional.(?) Hard to say exactly. The atmosphere is relaxed with an emphasis on studying the Word of God in and indepth manner. My experience with Calvary Chapel is that they typically go through the entire Bible verse by verse or at least through an entire book verse by verse. I love it and so does my husband. The church we are attending is very small, and very friendly. It hasn't been hard to feel like a part of it and we've only gone three times. (We went to a First Free in La Crosse when we lived there. I actually was one of the secretaries at one point. The pastor there is also a wonderful man.)

Have you always been in the Door County area? We will have to look you up if we head up that way. I am sure it's beautiful when it's warm and sunny, but I have those beautiful memories of winter in my head. Gorgeous!
