We are finally getting back in the saddle again! Yippee! We had a great day of school yesterday, accomplished almost every subject and even got the house picked up as well! It helped that I took a relaxing day on Sunday and just had fun. I had not had a day like that for a couple weeks and I needed it. Sunday started out with a panic as the worship team was not coming together during the sound check. My husband ususally runs the sound, but due to fishing problems had to be out on the water fixing nets. Our 12 year old Annie got the sound all up and running and I woke up one of the teens to come and run sound for us. It was just a battle for tempo and unity. At the end I prayed and asked God to bring us together, and our BIG faithful God did more than that! The worship package was fantastic. The worship was wonderful and I was freed to just praise my God. The youth group did "Jesus, I Surrender" by Jeff Deyo, and that came together and was beautiful. People were a little quiet on the hymns although they were wonderful hymns of our faith, not little known songs. We may need to get more of a worship team to support the hymns in the future. It was good, God is good! Our son Matthew was home and so I spent some time talking with him on Saturday. he seems to be doing well at work and is busy. He and Annie delivered fish to Fish Creek in the afternoon and Annie was very happy to be with her brother, riding in his nice black truck. We had dinner on Saturday night with one of his friends, Mark, and his girfriend Elizabeth. I have thought of Mark as a son and this is his first GF (as they call girlfriends these days). I had met Elizabeth in August but over dinner I really got to talk with her and found her to be a wonderful Christian girl from a good Christian family. She is a music lover as well and so we had much in common that way. It was delightful to see how God has blessed Mark. We had fun sitting around the table talking. Sunday after church we headed into Sister Bay for the end of a the Fall Fest Celebrations, which is a ping-pong ball drop from helicopters. Some of the balls have names of establishments on them and you can win prizes. Nothing grand that I know of. We visited the craft tents and looked at the nice work of many of these artisians. We kept running into different youth from the youth group, as well as Mandy and her boyfriend Ben. It was a beautiful day to be walking around and visiting people. We found a booth selling funnel cakes and decided that it was a "gift" from God because I love funnel cakes but we only have them once a year at our county fair. We walked down to the booth and my friend Megan and I each bought one. They were huge and covered with a thick layer of powdered sugar, perfect for blowing onto the person you were sharing with! We laughed and talked as about 12 of us shared the two cakes, which were delectable and superior to the cakes we get at the fair, yum! As if that was not enough fun, we headed to the Brandt's home and met up with a bunch of musicians to hang out and "make" music. We have been doing this for over a year and we now have 3-4 guitars, acoustic and electric, the Colonel ( and 80+ year old man) who plays the harmonica beautifully, and I play piano or flute. There are about 4-5 of us who sing. We do praise and worship and old folk songs especially German (for the Colonel and me) and Celtic ( for Kari). It was a great time. The children play and we enjoy the fellowship! Sweet times! Sunday night I went alone to hear a speaker at our sister church in Sister Bay who is a renowned Christian archeologist. He had over 3 million dollars worth of original Bible scrolls, stamp books, and a second edition KJV Bible. Did you know that there are over 7 different versions of the KJV Bible and most are based (50% or more) from the original Tyndale Bible? I also got to hold in my hand a 4000 year old tile with cuneiform writing on it. They have over 50,000 of these tiles that verify the Bible. It was so interesting to hear these facts and see how God has left us more then enough tangible verification on His Holy Word. If only the lost would see this truth and repent and obey this awsome Book. Ended the day with a group of college kids and teens at our house visiting and watching the old musical "Newsies". What a fun day! |
