I am finally having the chance to write again after some problems with this blog site. I can hardly catch up for the holidays as they were so busy as usual, but I will try. ![]() The holidays started with our daughter Jeni having a very scary experience. Her college apartment was robbed 2 days before she was supposed to come home for the holidays. It was terrifying to know that she had to go through this, but we praise our Sovereign God that she was at work and not at home when the person entered. She had two guy friends who were still at school who helped her that night and then in the morning she left and drove home. She fell into my arms and cried when I first saw her, releasing much emotion that had built up. She lost her i-pod, dvds, all her Christmas presents, to the thief. What a moment for all of us to realize that material possessions are not eternal, and to remember that we put our faith in God. It was fun to have all the children in for the Christmas weekend, even Mandy came home for the night making a very full house, which is how this Mom loves it to be! ![]() On Christmas Eve we had dinner at Rick's folks and then went to church for our Christmas Eve service by candlelight. The girls and I sang a song in three part harmony, Kristi played a piano number, Mandy sang with a friend and also accompanied another mother and daughter and I in a quartet. It was a wonderful service and very down home. Sunday morning brought the most relaxed Christmas Day ever. Everyone was sleepy and slept in and no one even wondered about the stockings to open. Maybe that is because our stockings consist of "needed" items, like toothpaste, toothbrush, some make-up items (Arbonne of course) and the infamous pink- panties which are always found and hid immedietly so that no one else sees them. What fun! We opened gifts together and as always Rick and I were so delighted by our childrens gifts to each other and to us. They are all so thoughtful. The children and I all pitched in to buy Rick a new helmet for racing to protect him. This was a faith gift because he has mentioned more than once that he may not be able to afford racing this year. We will see! Went to Rick's Aunt and Uncle's house to be with cousins, then came home to relax, and we did. It was wonderful to just play games and talk and nap. Today I ended up taking Jeni to Green Bay to have her two lower wisdom teeth out. She did so well. It was a long day but now this is done for her. Now starts the fun of getting ready for New Year's Eve. |
